Now in its 6th year, the ACCess Internship Program offers a select group of students immersive internships within corporate legal departments in Southern California. The ACC Southern California Chapter is seeking students who have shown a commitment to increasing the representation of various backgrounds and identities within the legal profession or within their community.
The internship provides a stipend for eight to ten weeks of work during the summer.
Interns are assigned to a corporate legal department where they will perform essential tasks, including:
- Legal research
- Memo writing
- Contract drafting
- Attending internal and external meetings
- Generally, experiencing the day-to-day work of in-house attorneys.
The program is structured around three primary components:
- The corporate in-house internship
- Robust mentorship
- Network building
Interns have opportunities to meet and network with future peers, including current in-house counsel, ACC Southern California Chapter members, and attorneys from various law firms. Social outings and other programs are included to help interns, host attorneys, and mentors build relationships.
The program specifically encourages applicants who have had unusual paths to success and a growth mindset:
- First-generation law students
- “Carry as you Climb” mindset
- Self-motivated and high-performing students
