Join ACC

The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) is a global bar association that promotes the common professional and business interests of in-house counsel. These attorneys work for corporations, associations, and other organizations through information, education, networking opportunities, and advocacy initiatives. Whether you are new to in-house counsel or a chief legal officer, we have resources to support every stage of your career.

Membership Eligibility

ACC membership is open to individuals who are engaged in the active practice of law employed by organizations in either the private or public sector, do not have regulatory, enforcement or policymaking responsibilities nor work in an institution with such authority, and do not hold themselves out to the public for the practice of law. Eligible positions include full-time in-house and contract attorneys on a long-term placement.

Legal operations professionals in corporate legal departments, or ACC in-house counsel members who take responsibility for operations, are welcome to join the ACC Legal Operations section.

The following are ineligible for membership:

  • Individuals whose responsibility may include selling or providing services to individuals or organizations who are not their employer. This includes individuals who work for companies that provide legal services, such as headhunters, law firms, and temporary agencies
  • Individuals whose responsibilities include sales, marketing, and business development in the legal market
  • Organizations applying for corporate membership that have regulatory, enforcement, or policy making responsibilities

For lawyers in Australia, certain aspects of membership eligibility may vary.
