BAR EXAM PREP COURSE STIPEND / SCHOLARSHIP


Application Instructions and Eligibility Requirements

 

Background and Purpose:

ACC-SoCal believes the legal community has a responsibility to help alleviate the financial burden faced by students preparing for the California Bar Exam. To support students with demonstrated financial need, the ACC-SoCal Scholarship Program covers the cost of a limited number of California Bar Exam review courses for applicants who might otherwise be unable to afford them.

A select number of recipients will be chosen from qualified applicants who demonstrate financial hardship, high moral character, and a commitment to entering the legal profession.



Eligibility:

Eligibility is limited to full-time and part-time law students who meet all of the following criteria:

  • Financial Hardship: Experienced financial hardship during law school and may need to forgo a bar review course without this program.
  • Graduation Date: Will graduate in Spring 2026 or Fall 2026 with a JD from an ABA-accredited law school located in ACC-SoCal’s designated region (Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, Santa Barbara, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties).
  • Bar Exam Registration: Registered to take the California Bar Exam in July 2026 or February 2027.

Please provide complete, detailed answers to all application questions and include all required attachments.

Completed applications and supporting documentation should be submitted to:

Applications must be typed in 12‑point font and emailed as a single PDF to s.keany@accglobal.com by April 3, 2026.



Selection Criteria:

Scholarships will be awarded based on:

  • Financial need
  • Moral character
  • Academic achievement
  • Community involvement
  • Disadvantaged socioeconomic background
  • First-generation college or law student status
  • Experiences overcoming personal or systemic hardships, including challenges, skills gained, or lessons learned that have shaped the applicant’s identity or perspective

ACC-SoCal will take reasonable steps to safeguard confidential information submitted by applicants, using protections comparable to those applied to its own sensitive information.
