Covington, Louisiana, Zen-Noh Grain Corporation is seeking senior counsel for its Covington, Louisiana, headquarters location. This person will report to the General Counsel and will provide legal advice involving a wide range of legal matters where the company or its affiliates conduct business. This person will work directly, and independently, with shareholder representatives, executives, and company personnel at all levels, and will manage outside counsel as needs arise in various jurisdictions.

The initial responsibilities assigned this role will depend upon the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate, with a goal to leverage functional and jurisdictional expertise in a two attorney group while developing cross-functional and cross-jurisdictional knowledge and experience in this person. Specific responsibilities may include:
Provide legal counsel to the organization and management team concerning a broad range of issues arising in the company's day-to-day business activities.
Negotiate, draft and review legal contracts and related documents in support of the organization's business.
Independently evaluate the company's operations relative to legal requirements and best practices from a risk management perspective, and work with management to implement changes and improvements as appropriate.
Investigate, handle and/or manage claims and litigation as assigned.
Review and interpret legislation, rules and regulations ensuring organization personnel are aware of and in compliance with applicable requirements.
Assist with complex transactions including mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, and provide legal advice related to post-transaction governance.
Other duties as assigned.
Required - Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school with a strong academic record.
Required - 5+ years’ legal experience, preferably a combination of law firm and in-house experience.
Preferred - The ideal candidate will have expertise in international M&A or grain/commodities transactions.
Required - License and in good standing to practice law, preferably in Louisiana.

This is a full-time position located in Covington, Louisiana and will include travel up to 25%, including ability to enter (or obtain visa for) Japan, Brazil, and Canada.
