The responsibility of the Association of Corporate Counsel is to work on behalf of its members and maintain a member-responsive organizational culture.
Dear ACC Colorado Members,
It certainly feels good to be in the month of May with a sense that the worst is behind us – at least from a pandemic perspective in the U.S.!
We have been so fortunate to be able to offer some fantastic virtual programming, in conjunction with our sponsors, with content that is responsive to the current climate and needs of our in-house community. We will continue to do so over the next few months and are looking forward to the day when we can see each other in-person again. We are starting to look at hosting such in-person events in the fall. I know I have sorely missed the sense of camaraderie and collaboration that is found whenever we gather together, but I hope that in the meantime, we will still find meaningful ways to connect with each other.
We invite you to share your ideas on any content that you would like to see offered – be it in the areas of substantive legal training, soft-skill training, or one of the buzz topics that is close to my heart - Corporate Social Responsibility. Please let us know what you want to see more or less of – you can reach out to myself or any Board member with your feedback. Please also use the Speaker Interest Form if you’d like to volunteer your expertise in any particular area – we are always seeking in-house counsel speakers to participate in programming throughout the year. We want to make sure that we live up to the ACC motto – “By in-house counsel, for in-house counsel®”.
If you’re looking for ways to give back in a professional setting, may I suggest the “Law School Yes We Can (LSYWC)” initiative? This mentoring program involves partnering in-house counsel volunteers (and others in the legal profession) with college freshmen, building skills to assist with law school futures, with the ultimate goal of creating diversity in the legal profession. ACC members can help by volunteering to moderate a virtual, 35 minute breakout session at the LSYWC annual fundraising event on May 21. I have signed up to be a facilitator – check out the details further down in this email if you’re also interested!
I hope you are starting to get excited about summer, like I am, and have some good things planned in order to refresh, reset and relax. In the meantime, kick back and enjoy reading our Member Spotlight section on Jeff Brown, whom we’re lucky enough to have on the ACC Colorado board (and please feel free to “nominate” your in-house buddies for a future Member Spotlight!).
