TOPIC: Corporate Insolvency Law and Practice - Basic Principles and Updates

Insolvency law is an integral part of the legal system and occupies a central place in commercial and company laws. Many rules in commercial and company laws are devised to cater for the insolvency situation.  This seminar will discuss the following aspects:

  1. Modes and Procedures of companies winding-up
  2. Restructuring and rescue options
  3. Impact of winding-up on prior transactions
  4. Directors’ and employees’ personal liabilities in winding-up

Speakers

Ludwig Ng

Ludwig Ng, Partner

Ludwig Ng holds a master degree in law from the University of Hong Kong. After receiving his early training from prestigious firms in Hong Kong and practised as a barrister, Ludwig founded ONC Lawyers with his partners in 1993. Ludwig practises mainly in the field of commercial litigation, with emphasis on corporate and partnership disputes, insolvency and restructuring. Amongst his various public services, Ludwig is an examiner of Overseas Lawyers Qualification Examination, executive committee member of the Restructuring and Insolvency Faculty of the HKICPA and member of the Law Society Insolvency Law Committee. He is an editor and contributor to the book: “Reforming Law Reform” published by HKU Press, and one of the authors of Hong Kong Corporate Insolvency Manual (4th ed). He is amongst the first solicitors that obtained the Higher Rights of Audience and is selected as a leading and highly recommended lawyer by AsiaLaw Profiles and ChambersAsia in the fields of insolvency and restructuring and disputes resolution.
