What is ACC Hong Kong?

The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) Hong Kong serves the professional needs of the corporate counsel community in Hong Kong and is the premier source for information, networking opportunities and education.

ACC Hong Kong is a chapter of the global ACC bar association with over 46,000 members employed by over 10,000 organisations in 85 countries. Further information about ACC can be found on the ACC website.

 

Who belongs to ACC Hong Kong?

The membership includes a diverse mix of over 800 professionals.

Who is eligible to become a member of ACC Hong Kong?

ACC Hong Kong Membership

ACC Hong Kong individual membership is available exclusively to individuals, working as a corporate in-house counsel for a private enterprise, or working as in-house counsel for a government department or agency, a quasi-government or administrative body that does not have regulatory, enforcement and policy functions.

 

What about corporate membership?

ACC Hong Kong Corporate Membership

ACC Hong Kong Corporate Membership is only available to legal departments, consisting of a minimum of nine in-house lawyers working in a private enterprise or government department or agency, quasi-government or administrative body without a regulatory, enforcement or policy function.

If new people join your organisation, you can add them to your corporate membership at any time during the membership year please note additional fees may apply. Please refer to the Membership Type for further information.

Importantly, you must nominate a “Membership Coordinator” who will be our contact point to deal with any issues with your corporate membership. Your Membership Coordinator should also keep us up to date with any people who leave your organisation so we can make sure our membership directory remains accurate.

 

No. ACC Hong Kong welcomes all new members without a sponsor.

 

Is there a joining fee?

No, there is only the annual membership fee.

 

What are the annual fees?

INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS

ACC Hong Kong Membership: USD$320 

CORPORATE MEMBERS

ACC Hong Kong Corporate Membership: USD$240 per person for 6 or more eligible in-house lawyers.

How can I pay the membership fee?

We currently offer credit card and internet banking or interbank transfer. For more details about the methods of payment, please visit the Payment Methods section of our website.

 

Do you issue invoices or receipts?

Members who register on the website will receive an automated confirmation of payment.

For corporate members, upon receiving a completed application form we can issue an invoice to the Membership Coordinator along with payment instructions. Once payment is received we will also issue a receipt.

 

What's the length of my membership term?

The membership year for all memberships runs until the end of the month of joining. When joining at any stage during a given month, the membership will run to the end of the same month in the following year. We do not pro-rate fees.

 

How long does it take for my membership application to be processed?

We use an efficient online system which means the time taken to process your application is kept to the minimum and usually takes a few working days, subject to receipt of your fees.

If you need your membership processed urgently (because you want to attend a particular upcoming event, for example) please let us know.

 

Do you provide membership cards?

No, we don’t but you’ll receive your personal user ID and password details via email upon receipt of payment of your membership fee.

 

How do I update my member profile in the ACC Hong Kong membership directory?

To update your profile, simply log in to www.acc.com, then select "My ACC" in the top right corner. Next, navigate to the “My Profile” section of the site, make the relevant changes and click “Save”. If you would like to make further updates, please contact us at acchongkong@acc.com

 

If I leave my employer, will my membership go with me?

Individual membership is portable so you can take it with you to your new job, as long as your new job means you continue to meet ACC Hong Kong's eligibility requirements. Please let us know your change in details by updating your member’s profile in the Members’ Area of the website or emailing us at acchongkong@acc.com.

Existing individual members who become unemployed are entitled to retain their membership until the end of their membership year. If you have membership under the corporate membership scheme, your membership will be terminated. When you get your new job, you will need to apply for new membership and pay the normal fees.

 

Transferability of Membership?

Your membership is not transferable to someone else.
