ACC Australia is thrilled to launch the inaugural i-LEAD Award! Apply for the ACC Australia i-LEAD award before the third week of January (Friday, 22nd) to be in the running for priority access to several 2021 ACC Australia events, resources, and invaluable networking opportunities, not to mention a two-year honorary ACC Australia membership!

ACC Australia’s national Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Committee is committed to creating and promoting a more diverse and inclusive Australian in-house legal community.

i-LEAD stands for In-house Lawyers Equality and Diversity.  The i-LEAD award aims to offer a highly supported, multi-faceted introduction to the in-house legal profession so as to encourage a more diverse and inclusive legal community that better reflects the Australian community.

“This award is about celebrating potential and not putting people in a box. We don’t require you to meet a threshold of financial or social disadvantage to apply. Instead, we ask you to tell us how this opportunity will help you overcome the barriers you have faced (or continue to face). The award will then be tailored to support empowering you to thrive in your chosen career in-house,” shares Lisa Wright from ACC Australia’s D,E&I Committee. Lisa is also heading up the volunteer i-LEAD taskforce that have developed this pilot program.

“I am really proud of the team of passionate in-house lawyers who joined the task force I have led to create this unique program in an agile way. We used elements of Human Centred Design to design an award that will make a meaningful difference in the lives of the winning recipients. For example, one of the design principles was to keep the application process simple and accessible. We have designed the award in a way that we can adapt the process and the program to cater to different needs.”

We know businesses are busy finishing off work and wrapping up 2020, but you can get a head start on 2021 by encouraging someone you know to apply for this award in the new year, or if you think this opportunity could support your professional development be sure to add apply for the i-LEAD award to your January calendar today!
