ACC Greater Philadelphia’s Career Development/In-transition Committee presents a very special event: "Tips from the Top: Career Advice From Some of the Nation’s Leading In-house Counsel."  For the first time, this event will be hosted VIRTUALLY on ACCGP’s Zoom channel.

Tips From the Top is a panel discussion moderated by Jonathan Margolis, VP & Counsel, Toll Brothers, in which several prominent in-house counsel will share their experiences and thoughts on issues pertinent to career development and management.  Attendees will benefit from hearing panelists' perspectives on career paths, leadership, mentorship, and other topics, as well insights on how attorneys can effectively navigate careers in-house. Panelists include:

The world in 2020 has introduced new challenges and exposed and aggravated existing ones. Between a pandemic, slowing economy, civil unrest, and increased racial tension, diverse attorneys face unprecedented challenges personally and professionally. As members of the legal community, we have a role in working to connect with and support diverse attorneys, and to find new ways to address common issues of equality, the imposter syndrome, and mental health.

Remote work and other challenges have fueled fundamental shifts and innovations in how we work, how we think, and how we address hardships. The silver lining in 2020 is that we are learning to embrace constraints and think differently. This panel event aims to foster collaboration between client-service professionals outside of the legal profession and wellness advocates.

This session aims to identify and provide tools for addressing challenges diverse attorneys face, including wellness challenges, and the panel will include a non-attorney professional to offer his perspectives from outside the practice of law.

COVID19 is reshaping the world as we know it and what comes next will be decided by the decisions we make today. Understanding the generational dynamics at play helps us fully grasp how our employees and customers are dealing with this pivotal moment. Generational theory examines how major cultural events and conditions shape a new generation finding their place in the world. Exploring this topic while in the midst of a onceinageneration moment is precisely how leaders can gain critical insight into what's coming next. In this webinar presented by Eversheds Sutherland, Kim Lear, Generational Research Consultant and Founder of Inlay Insights, will discuss:

• Baby Boomers, the young-at-heart generation that has defied aging stereotypes, has found themselves in an at-risk, vulnerable age segment. Up until now, 60 has felt like the new 40. How has our concept of aging changed because of COVID19?

Session I, 1:00 p.m. — 2:00 p.m.  CARES Act and the Potential Fraud Implications

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (the “CARES Act”) was signed into law by President Donald Trump on March 27, 2020.  The $2.2 trillion economic relief package was in response to the public health and economic impacts of COVID-19.  The panel will give an overview of the economic relief under the CARES Act and the current fraud implications of its enactment.  In addition, federal oversight and enforcement efforts will be addressed to help assist in house counsel with avoiding the potential risk of fraud within their organizations.

Session II, 2:30 p.m. — 3:30 p.m.  Risky Business: How Skilled In-House Attorneys Can Identify and Solve for Risk

Corporate counsels across all industries benefit from a proactive identification and assessment of risks that may impact their business.  Join our panel of experts for an in-depth discussion of business risk assessment from several different perspectives, including insurance, litigation counsel and accounting. This seminar will discuss how to identify risks before they impact your business and the tools professionals use to prevent and protect against those risks.  Specific areas that will be addressed include risk identification and assessment, litigation prevention and mitigation, financial and accounting controls and compliance.
