Most non-profit organizations are in need of experienced business/legal professionals to share their unique expertise and passion for important causes. Business skills, enthusiasm, and the desire to make a positive difference can have a huge impact on any organization.  Get On Board! is an interactive workshop that will prepare you for the rewarding experience of volunteerism, non-profit leadership, and board participation.

In this workshop you will learn about the different types and structures of boards, as well as the roles, responsibilities, and legal obligations of non-profit board members. Jim Grace, Executive Director of the Arts & Business Council and Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, will lead the workshop focusing on the primary aspects of board stewardship including:

  • Philanthropy, its history and future;
  • Board member roles, governance and dynamics;
  • Legal overview and board role in human resources;
  • Financial management and tax overview;
  • Board role in fundraising and development strategies;
  • Strategic planning for long-term growth and stability.

Dealing with a job search during the Coronavirus pandemic is not easy… but it IS surmountable. There actually are a lot of job seekers who have been landing new jobs over the past six months as some companies are using this opportunity to replace under-performing individuals with better talent. Job seekers who don’t let COVID-19 drag them down and instead accelerate their efforts are coming out way ahead. They are generating more activity and minimally are significantly improving their candidacy for opportunities that have been temporarily delayed.

This 60-minute webinar will be led by Marty Gilbert, Founder/CEO of the NorthShore Executive Networking Group, Chicago’s largest job search networking and coaching organization with over 7,200 members, 10 of which are obtaining new jobs each week throughout COVID-19. During his presentation Marty will discuss 10 different actions you should be taking now in order to enhance your job search activity during these challenging times. And whether you’ve been looking for two weeks or two years, his recommendations can help pump new life into your search efforts. A few of the topics he will discuss include:

•    Creating an effective job search plan
•    Improving your messaging and how you bring value to prospective employers
•    Launching a proactive marketing effort that drives awareness, interest and engagement with target audiences
•    Optimizing your resume and LinkedIn profile
•    Personal branding
