The annual State of the Corporate Law Department Report from Thomson Reuters has seen a shift in Legal Department priorities over the last few years, with compliance & regulatory requirements rising to the top, followed closely by risk management, data privacy & cost control.  What's more, 65% of corporate law departments are experiencing increasing matter volumes, while 59% are dealing with flat if not decreasing budgets.  In an environment where you're constantly being asked to do more with less, how do you prioritize while also driving the greatest value for your organization?  And as we all know, it's hard to know how to best manage priorities and what tools are available to help lighten the load.

Please plan to join ACC Northeast and Thomson Reuters for this in-depth/in-person roundtable discussion that will attempt to tackle these challenges.  Learn about:

  • Data driven insights around the shifting key challenges law departments are facing across the country;
  • Actionable best practices including, how to shift outside counsel spend to realize cost savings while not sacrificing quality, how to sustainably bring more work in-house, and how to partner legal with legal ops to measure and track the value of efficiency changes;
  • How to take advantage of technology to solve key challenges and lighten the load with tools like Practical Law & Legal Tracker.

There will be a Networking Reception immediately following the one hour discussion.  Don't miss this opportunity to learn from Thomson Reuters professionals and your peers.

Microaggressions are commonplace daily verbal, behavioral or environmental slights, whether intentional or unintentional, that communicate hostile, derogatory, or negative attitudes toward socially or culturally marginalized groups. Despite the prefix, microaggressions are not inconsequential. They matter because, in order to empower your colleagues and be an effective DEI ally, you must build relationships at the individual level. And, to do that, you need to be aware of the impact these messages are having on someone else, as they often indicate your unconscious biases and leave the other person feeling excluded and devalued.

In this workshop, we will learn to identify microaggressions and recognize how they show up. Our panelists will discuss their experiences with these communications and incidents, how they have learned to react, and how they’ve learned to redirect the speaker and engaged their allies to be interrupters. We then will have small-group discussions in breakout rooms so that attendees may discuss their experiences, the tactics they have employed to address microaggressions, and what they heard in this session.

This program is presented by the DEI Leadership Development Subcommittee.
