It’s Time to Update Your Privacy Policies and Vendor Contracts, Again

Join Warner Norcross + Judd LLP attorneys Kelly Hollingsworth, Nate Steed, and Alex Haywood for a program to address privacy law changes that could significantly impact your organization. If you are a for-profit entity doing business in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah or Virginia, there are several new and revised laws requiring you to update your privacy disclosures and vendor contracts. The team from Warner will present the necessary changes you need to make to comply with the California Privacy Rights Act and Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act – both of which became effective January 1, 2023. Additionally, they will be highlighting upcoming requirements for Colorado, Connecticut, and Utah and tips to work through the patchwork of privacy laws in an efficient manner to avoid duplicative efforts.

She enjoys crafting solutions for clients and ensuring they have sufficient contractual protections regarding indemnification and limitations on liability. Always considering the future and the present, Alex helps clients think through their data protection needs and advises them in getting the right tools in place to handle their evolving requirements.

 

Kelly HKelly Hollingsworth

Partner

Kelly focuses her practices in the areas of technology and data privacy. She guides users and creators of software, cloud solutions, and other technology through procurement, commercial contracting, and implementation. On the privacy and security fronts, she helps global clients – in such areas as health care, higher education, retail, and manufacturing – protect and utilize both their own data and that of their customers in a way that complies with continuously evolving data privacy regulations, worldwide. Kelly’s current practice specialties evolved from and continue to be informed by her significant experience in general business law, including entity formation, business governance, contracting, and mergers and acquisitions.  

 

Nathan SteedNate Steed

Partner

Nate counsels various organizations in technology and data privacy and information security law and related contracts. His strengths also include the acquisition, use, and audit of software and hardware and the internet of things. Having a diverse client portfolio has provided Nate with a unique perspective and exposure to a wide range of software vendors offering cutting-edge applications. Data breaches and ransomware attacks, through which data becomes compromised or inaccessible, can be especially concerning or even dangerous for highly regulated industries. Nate has guided several clients through this stressful process. He helps them prepare for and prevent breaches but also to craft and implements a comprehensive data security incident response should a breach occur. Nate frequently presents on maintaining compliance with state and federal privacy and information security laws.
