Session I, Armstrong Teasdale — Ethical Issues Facing In-House Lawyers, Law Departments and Management
The expert panelists for this session will discuss unique and challenging ethical issues facing corporate and government in-house lawyers and management, including: identifying the actual client, privilege land mines, internal policies and controls, disclosing information to external auditors, managing outside counsel requests for conflicts waivers, and more. The panelists will provide an overview of relevant ethical issues and discuss how to navigate them pragmatically.
Session II, Dechert — Data Preservation and Collection In Interesting Times
Data preservation and collection are essential to effective investigations and litigation defense. Failure to properly preserve and collect data can undermine a project’s value and validity and lead to adverse consequences. Today, these seemingly routine tasks are more challenging and demand a thoughtful and consistent, coordinated approach by in-house counsel. Fail to plan; plan to fail. This session will cover such key areas as: data mapping - current and complete; BYOD - is it company data, and can you collect it?; privacy; third-party messaging apps; social media; WFH and remote data storage; emerging data security laws; and, collaboration tools.
Session III, Cozen O'Connor — Now That You’re In House, What About Outside Counsel?
Now that you’ve made the move in house, how can you best find and manage outside counsel? The panel will discuss best practices including how to select your outside counsel and best manage outside counsel (including the cost) to help ensure that your legal department is a true asset to your organization.
