Outsourcing work often includes back-office functions, information technology, cybersecurity, product development, and on. The vendors our clients rely on to do this work themselves also outsource work. Our clients are thus relying on a third-party supply chain that may include dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of providers – a virtual ecosystem. Introduce into this supply chain a sudden rush to harness Artificial Intelligence (AI) and real risks emerge. Learn about assessing this third-party AI risk as part of traditional vendor security assessments, risk scoring systems, and new AI specific risk frameworks such as NIST AI Risk Management Framework, ISO 23053, and capAI (aligned to the European Union AI Act).

This dynamic panel will explore deepfakes and the risks they pose to corporations, courts and society. We will explore real-world examples, ranging from fraud to fake evidence, and from disinformation to election interference. We will also address cybersecurity, deepfake detection capabilities, new digital evidence rules, and other tools to help in-house counsel and business leaders effectively deal with deepfakes in this AI world.

This panel will explore the patchwork of federal and state privacy laws, privacy litigation trends and their impact on generative AI solutions. The presenters will offer guidance and best practices to lawyers working and advising clients in the rapidly evolving Generative AI landscape.

This dynamic panel will outline practical strategies for effective information sharing in the age of AI and increased regulatory oversight. It will also share real-world examples of recent ransomware attacks, and provide the audience with practical tips to prepare for and respond to cyberattacks. This session will prepare GCs, other corporate counsel, and C-suite executives for the most daunting challenges their organizations may face.

With growing reliance and dependence on information technology and data, organizations have a responsibility to their clients, investors and employees to protect sensitive data and minimize disruption to operations and risks of data breach arising from a cyberattack.  The development of a Cyber Risk Management plan, understanding roles of the C-Suite and the Board in cyber risk strategy, aligning cybersecurity strategies with business goals, and implementing risk governance structures are important.  This session will discuss approaches to cyber risk management, the roles of management and the board, and applying risk management frameworks such as the three lines of defense model to effectively manage cyber risk.

Traditionally, the legal function has approached information governance as a defensive exercise: retention schedules, litigation holds, or deletion projects designed to limit liability.

But what if there is another side of the coin? This article discusses how in-house counsel can help their organizations unlock value with information governance.
