Steve Auvil is the Managing Partner of Squire Patton Boggs’ Cleveland office, having led the firm’s IP litigation practice for more than a decade. Practicing law for nearly 30 years, he has served as lead trial counsel in more than 100 IP disputes and successfully tried patent, trademark and trade secret cases. Steve has also led the Cleveland Intellectual Property Law Association and the Kathleen M. O’Malley American Inn of Court. He is listed in Chambers USA Leading Lawyers (Band 1) and The Best Lawyers in America.

Arthi Tirey, Nordson Corporation 
Arthi Tirey is Vice President and Chief Intellectual Property Counsel at Nordson Corporation, where she leads the development and execution of the company’s worldwide IP strategy. Over her 25-year career, Arthi has also held prior roles in Fortune 500 and startup companies. She serves as a key business partner, creating and evaluating IP portfolios that support internal growth opportunities and strategic partnerships and acquisitions.

Karl Maersch, Hilco Streambank 
Karl Maersch is Senior Vice President at Hilco Streambank and heads the patent advisory and monetization practice. His prior roles include Deputy General Counsel of AST, a defensive patent aggregator; Head of IP Litigation Worldwide for Dow Chemical; and Associate General Counsel of Eastman Kodak. Karl started his career as a patent litigator at Jones Day. Over the course of his in-house and advisory career, Karl’s clients have generated over US$4.5 billion in revenue from IP.

Bryan Jaketic, Squire Patton Boggs 
Bryan Jaketic has experience in patent procurement and litigation from multiple perspectives. After serving six years as a patent examiner at the US Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO), he has spent the last 20 years preparing and prosecuting patents, as well as litigating them. He has argued in US district courts and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board of the USPTO. He is currently the president of the Cleveland Intellectual Property Law Association.
