David's litigation practice involves all aspects of corporate/commercial litigation with an emphasis on construction law, securities law, insurance law, environmental law, and oil and gas law. He regularly appears before all levels of courts in Alberta as well as in the Federal Court and the Federal Court of Appeal. In securities matters, he frequently appears before the Securities Commission of Alberta.
David also maintains a considerable advisory practice in connection with environmental issues, property and liability policies, and reinsurance losses. David is a member of the Blakes Executive Committee
Olga practises corporate and securities law. Her primary focus is in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, corporate finance, shareholder activism, and corporate governance and compliance matters.
Olga has more than 15 years of experience in representing publicly traded issuers listed in Canada and the U.S., as well as private companies. Olga regularly counsels public companies and their boards of directors on a broad range of corporate governance and public disclosure compliance obligations, as well as general corporate and commercial matters.
Catherine has a wealth of experience in governance, as well as significant proficiency in commercial and tax law.
From 2014 to 2022 she served as Corporate Secretary and Legal Counsel at Alberta Health Services. In that role, Catherine worked closely with the AHS Board and Executive Leadership Team on a wide variety of governance matters. Catherine was instrumental in establishing strong governance practices and routinely provided governance advice with respect to foundations and health advisory councils. She has also presented on governance topics.
Catherine is currently Associate General Counsel, Commercial Law at AHS and leads a team of 13 lawyers who advise and support the numerous portfolios within the organization. She is a member of the Law Society of Alberta, as well as the Association of Corporate Counsel and the Canadian Bar Association. Catherine has completed the ICD Not-for-Profit Governance Essentials Program, and the Crown Director Effectiveness and Board Oversight of Strategy courses. She has also completed the Osgoode certificate program in Privacy & Information Management in Healthcare.
