Sanctions are an increasingly complicated compliance challenge for companies and banks. The US continues to use them as an important foreign policy tool, which is causing challenges to its relationship with Europe and other allies around the world. Other governments, including GCC states, are using them to promote their own foreign policy aims.

Control Risks Partners Henry Smith and Anita Barker invite you to join them for an interactive session on managing the challenges posed by sanctions.

This workshop aims to:

1. Explain the trajectory of different sanctions regimes (Russia, Iran, Syria etc).

2. Discuss the governance structures that companies should consider to manage sanctions, with some anonymized examples of how companies have managed to continue doing sanctions compliant business in Iran

3. Evaluate how due diligence can support sanctions risk assessments around transactions, with some anonymized examples of how companies consider risk assessments and due diligence of particular transactions and relationships

4. Establish how to approach sanctions investigations and enforcement issues, with some anonymized examples of how companies have approached them
