Join your ACC colleagues and David Hamilton of Womble Bond Dickinson, for a webinar on the possible redefinition of antitrust law to break up technology companies and the downstream effects it could have on any company with antitrust concerns. The webinar will take place on October 7 from noon to 1:30 pm.

Webinar log-in instructions will be sent to registrants the day before the event.

The recent Antitrust subcommittee hearings, virtually conducted examinations of Tim Cook, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos and Sundar Pichai, probed conduct of their respective companies for both political and legal reasons. Though little damage occurred, there is an intense effort by some corners in DOJ, FTC and academia, to redefine antitrust law and to breakup successful technology companies. The reasons and the effort to redefine antitrust law are important to any company with antitrust concerns, including policy formation, merger and acquisition strategies, compliance plans and employee training. We examine all of these issues and provide some practical guidance. With FY 2021 upon us (beginning October 1), it is always healthy and smart to refresh one’s self (or learn for the first time) the ins-and-outs of the Federal Government’s SBA Small Business Programs for government contracting. It is critical to be familiar and to be on the lookout for possible risks and exposure for a Mandatory Disclosure Rule (MDR) disclosure.

This panel will discuss the SBA’s 8(a), Woman Owned, Service Disabled Veteran, HUB Zone, and other Small Business Contracting Programs, including the Mentor-Protégé Program which has seen recent expansion for large businesses. Also, the MDR is an ever present, but often misunderstood, FAR Rule that mandates self-disclosure of certain criminal or civil violations. While written in vague, far reaching terms, our panel will simplify this provision and provide real world guidance and thoughts on how to “be on the lookout” for violations and how to react.

Presented by Lawrence M. Prosen, Government Contracts & Construction Partner, Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP and Adele Navarrete, Senior Corporate Counsel, Logistics Management Institute.

1.5 Hours of VA MCLE credit pending.

This program will address the changing legal landscape following the #MeToo movement and employer best practices for addressing sexual harassment in the workplace. The panel will provide status updates on developments in #MeToo State legislation, lessons learned from numerous high profile investigations, and practical tips and guidance in updating employer policies and procedures.  The discussion will also encompass issues specific to the COVID-19 pandemic, such as additional caregiver responsibilities and unique ways women may experience harassment or discrimination during the pandemic.

Presented by Jason C. Schwartz, Co-Chair of Gibson Dunn’s Labor & Employment Practice Group, and General Counsel of the law firm and Greta B. Williams, Partner, and a member of Gibson Dunn’s Litigation and Labor & Employment Departments and Aisha Massengill, Vice President, Managing Counsel, Employment and Teammate Relations at Under Armour.

1.5 Hours of VA MCLE credit pending.

Please join us for our virtual diversity event, Cultural Competence in the Time of COVID-19. Drawing from the principles of Change Management, this interactive webinar will focus on the importance of shifting our 2020 approach to diversity, equity and inclusion – all through the lens of cultural identity, stereotypes and biases. In today’s world, cultural sensitivity might make us think of walking on egg shells, but embracing cultural competency can give us the ability to shift our perspectives and adapt our behavior in a more positive way.
