This session will explore the complexities of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts in the workplace as the national dialogue and legal environment rapidly evolve.
Alex Montanio, of Gordon Feinblatt, will cover the implications of:
  • recent Executive Orders,
  • federal and Maryland specific guidance documents, and
  • litigation
She will combine this with practical guidance about evaluating and continuing DEI programs in the current climate. The conversation will highlight the need for organizations to balance legal compliance, risk tolerance assessments, and corporate core values while navigating one of the most talked about topics of 2025.

Federal agencies are changing their enforcement approach.  There is a significant increase in the possibility that companies will have in-person contact with federal agents, whether directed at the organization, its employees, or its customers.

At the same time, there has been a rise in individuals posing as law enforcement to defraud companies. To assist corporate counsel in planning for such contact, Kathleen Hamann, the head of Pierce Atwood’s Government Investigations and Corporate Compliance team, will provide practical advice on preparing for potential visits, assessing demands, and minimizing risks and disruption to company operations.

Key Topics to be Covered:

  • The current state of play – why enforcement might visit you;
  • Agents on site - preparing locations for potential visits:
    • Public vs. private areas and the “plain view” exception;
    • Verifying search warrants for accuracy and limitations;
    • Arrests and searches incident to arrest.
  • Assessing document demands, including administrative, civil, and grand jury subpoenas and the differences;
  • Spotting fakes;
  • Video and audio recording;
  • De-escalation and safety considerations.

Register below.  Participants will receive login credentials 48 hours prior to the webinar.

Let’s schmooze, share, and strengthen our community of future-focused legal leaders.

We hope to see you there!

*Only folks who have participated in the program either as a nominator, nominee, or speaker can register for the event.

Please join Epstein Becker Green and ACC Western Pennsylvania for a live webinar addressing what corporate counsel need to know about navigating AI in their organizations under the new administration. With non-competes in the news last year with the FTC’s proposed, enacted, but ultimately unsuccessful attempt to ban them, it is time to a refresher on where things currently stand on a nationwide basis in the non-compete spectrum. Gone are the days where a one-sized-fits-all-single-state non-compete program works for companies, and with ever changing laws as it relates to non-competes, companies need to be keeping abreast of the law on a nearly 50-state basis, or potentially face penalties and lost business. This presentation explores the current state of non-competes, where the law was, and where it is now going, with a special emphasis on crafting policies that can quickly be revised to deal with this ever-changing field.

After the seminar, you’re invited to a networking reception at City Works, just steps away—offering great food, drinks, and lively conversation.

Then, the celebration continues as we head to Picklesburgh—Pittsburgh’s most unique summer festival—where pickles take center stage in all their briny glory.
