2022 ACC MI Mar 24

Join ACC Michigan and Littler Mendelson at the upcoming webinar: "Preparing the Workplace and Workforce for the Return to Work" on March 24 from 1:00 - 2:00 PM.

Nearly two years into this global pandemic and many Michigan employers still have a largely remote workforce. But things are changing. During this webinar, we will provide practical guidance for Michigan employers as they move from a remote to in person workforce and everything in between. We will discuss the latest on vaccine guidance, employee health and safety, accommodation issues, and many other potential legal risks that employers may confront in this new environment.

The ACC Georgia Women’s Initiative invites you to join our first event of 2022 at the Buckhead location of ASW Distillery.  We’ll have the opportunity to sample whiskeys, tour the distillery, and enjoy some time in the company of our friends and colleagues.  Not a whiskey drinker?  We’ll have plenty of other beverage options (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and tasty bites.  Attendance is capped at 50, so register early and we’ll see you at the distillery!

We welcome and encourage allies of the Women’s Initiative to attend!  (We’re talking to you, gentlemen)!

While we understand that some "no shows" are unavoidable, we kindly ask that you please consider our committee members who have spent a considerable amount of time and resources to put this event on for you before deciding not to attend. Good attendance helps ensure that ACC Georgia can continue to offer CLE programming and networking events at no cost to our ACC Georgia members. If you need to cancel, we ask for 48 hours’ notice to georgia@accglobal.com. ACC Georgia reserves the right to charge a fee for attendees who do not cancel.

To protect our members and their loved ones, we respectfully request that only people who have been vaccinated attend.

Georgia’s State-wide Business Court:

Observations and Experiences During the First 18 Months

Tuesday, March 8, 2022
11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Maggiano's Little Italy at Cumberland Mall
1601 Cumberland Mall SE
Atlanta, GA 30339

The Georgia State-wide Business Court (GSBC) was codified by the Georgia General Assembly to provide a specific forum to resolve complex commercial cases for businesses. The Court opened its doors on August 1, 2020, amid the pandemic and held its first in-person hearing on May 11, 2021. During its first 18 months, Parker Hudson attorneys have appeared before the GSBC more than two dozen times and have obtained some of the most important rulings issued. The ACC Georgia Chapter welcomes Parker, Hudson, Rainer & Dobbs LLP whose attorneys, Bill Holley and Anne Baroody, will share background regarding the GSBC, experiences before this new Court, best practice observations, and the most suitable matters for ACC members to consider bringing to the Court. The GSBC is an exciting development for Georgia companies, and we look forward to a robust discussion regarding how it can advance commercial interests in our State.Attendance is limited to ACC members and their invited in-house counsel guests, as well as prospective ACC members.  ACC membership is open to attorneys who practice law as in-house counsel employees of organizations and who do not hold themselves out to the public for the practice of law.

Thanks to Parker Hudson, the CLE lunch program is complimentary for the first 125 ACC members who register on-line.  Thereafter, the fee for current ACC members is $25, and, in all circumstances, $35 for non-members, including prospective members.  A CLE credit of one (1) hour is being applied for, and if approved, will be submitted to the Georgia State Bar for attendees licensed to practice in Georgia.

While we understand that some "no shows" are unavoidable, we kindly ask that you please consider our speakers and hosts who have spent a considerable amount of time and resources to put this event on for you before deciding not to attend.  Good attendance helps ensure that ACC Georgia can continue to offer CLE programming and networking events at no cost to our ACC Georgia members.  If you need to cancel, we ask for 48 hours’ notice togeorgia@accglobal.com.  ACC Georgia reserves the right to charge a fee for attendees who do not cancel.

All unvaccinated attendees must be masked to enter the restaurant; upon entering the private Antinori Room they may remove their masks.  If you have any questions, please contact Connie Swindell-Harding at georgia@accglobal.com.

Please join your ACCGP colleagues and friends for a relaxing evening of fun, food and drinks at a new venue for our chapter....Top Golf in Mount Laurel, NJ [https://topgolf.com/us/mount-laurel/].

Don't golf?  Don't worry!  No golfing skills necessary to enjoy this event.  Whether you pick up a club or not, is up to you, but we guarantee you will have a great time just hanging out watching others as they attempt to break some kind of Top Golf World record!  You all know who you are!

The Chapter requests that you attend only if you are feeling well, and if you have either been vaccinated or plan to wear a mask when not eating/drinking.  We believe that this approach is prudent at this time and is consistent with government health guidance.

We look forward to seeing you at Top Golf!

Cancellation Policy:  48-hours-notice required to ChrisStewart@accglobal.com

Environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues have rapidly emerged as a top priority for companies of all sizes, and organizations are considering forming dedicated ESG teams while simultaneously developing policies focused on climate change risk, responsible use of data, and enhanced social justice, particularly with respect to employee related diversity and inclusion (D&I). Corporate counsel are regularly called upon to undertake ESG integration work by advising the business on ESG objectives, implementation, compliance, and mitigation of attendant litigation and regulatory risks. Bracewell partners Rachel Goldman and David Shargel regularly advise companies on ESG risks and compliance measures, including with respect to enforcement actions and litigation risks.

Join us as Rachel and David explain what In-House Counsel need to know to manage ESG issues, including:

  • Emerging ESG issues;

  • ESG reporting standards and related regulatory risk; and

  • Overview of litigation trends and risks related to ESG, including securities class actions and derivative suits.

  • Risk-mitigation in the developing ESG landscape

President Biden has made clear that competition enforcement is a top priority, especially in sectors that are concentrated or are pivotal to consumers. The President has issued an Executive Order that outlines a “whole of government approach” to enforcement, and installed heads of the Federal Trade Commission and Department of Justice Antitrust Divisions that have progressive agendas. As companies adjust to the new normal, it is still important to be vigilant to get caught in any problematic scenarios, including with hiring, pricing, and acquisitions. Join us to learn what enforcers are focused upon and how to avoid pitfalls.
