Overview (Program Summary)

A program hosted by:

ACC National Capital Region

COVID-19 has transformed the global workplace in myriad ways, including in terms of worker mobility.  Remote and hybrid working arrangements have proliferated during the pandemic, creating unprecedented opportunities for workers to “wander” to new locations and jurisdictions – both domestically and internationally.  But most employment law requirements are based on a worker’s geographic location.  Thus, this increased global mobility has created a wide variety of compliance issues that employers must appreciate and address.  When employees relocate, employers are confronted with a multitude of employment law compliance challenges, including:

·         State income tax withholding

·         Unemployment insurance

·         Workers’ compensation

·         Wage and hour law

·         Training

·         Leave and benefits

·         And more!

This presentation will discuss the challenges facing employers of wandering workers and provide practical insights to assist organizations manage legal compliance in connection with such employees.

Presented by Joshua B. Waxman, Office Managing Shareholder of the Washington, DC Office of Littler Mendelson, Michael S. McIntosh, Office Managing Shareholder of the Tysons Corner Office of Littler Mendelson and Hannah M. Breshin-Otero, Vice President, Deputy General Counsel at CACI International Inc.
