ACC National Capital RegionCOVID-19 has transformed the global workplace in myriad ways, including in terms of worker mobility. Remote and hybrid working arrangements have proliferated during the pandemic, creating unprecedented opportunities for workers to “wander” to new locations and jurisdictions – both domestically and internationally. But most employment law requirements are based on a worker’s geographic location. Thus, this increased global mobility has created a wide variety of compliance issues that employers must appreciate and address. When employees relocate, employers are confronted with a multitude of employment law compliance challenges, including:

· Unemployment insurance
· Workers’ compensation
· Wage and hour law
· Training
· Leave and benefits

This presentation will discuss the challenges facing employers of wandering workers and provide practical insights to assist organizations manage legal compliance in connection with such employees.
