The health care industry is experiencing rapid growth and change as external environmental, technological and numerous other pressures have come into play, including the COVID-19 pandemic. Unsurprisingly, the pressures of growth and change inevitably cause conflicts. More often than not, these disputes – whether between a contractor and a health system, a doctors’ group and its practitioners, or a doctor and a patient – are best resolved through the use of a neutral third party or mediator. The ACC Georgia Chapter welcomes JAMS whose speakers, Bernard Taylor and David Zacks and Jane Jordanformerly of Beaumont Health, will present “A Spoonful of Sugar: Using Mediations to Mitigate Health Care Disputes”. This Deep Dive program will explore how mediation and other ADR tactics are used to help resolve issues and ultimately improve the overall health care system.
Join ACC Georgia and Ogletree Deakins for a panel discussion on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which will focus on the following practical issues for employers:
Potential impacts of Dobbs on health care coverage and medical travel reimbursement benefit options under employer medical plans, and how state aiding and abetting laws could affect employers that provide related benefits.
Employee relations issues that may arise post-Dobbs;
Handling leaves of absence and whether FMLA leave is available for an individual seeking an abortion; and
Whether an individual receiving abortion services may be considered disabled under the ADA.

Post-Pandemic Remote Work: A Productivity Boom or a Collaboration Destroyer? The Advantages and Pitfalls of Remote, Hybrid, and In-Person Models
In this interactive discussion, we will examine whether the conventional wisdom – that employees are more productive but less collaborative when working remotely – has proven to be true. Join attorneys from Littler’s South Carolina office to engage in a meaningful conversation regarding trends in post-pandemic workforces, and both the advantages and pitfalls of remote, hybrid, and in-person models. As companies continue to implement strategies for transitioning back to in-person work environments, we will explore the legal challenges that can arise, and how to effectively keep your workforce engaged and productive.
Schedule:
• 3:30 to 4:00 pm – Registration
• 4:00 to 5:00 pm – CLE program
• 5:00 to 6:00 pm – Networking & Cocktail Reception

In recent years, 75% of Fortune 500 companies were plaintiffs in recovery matters. Many large companies have developed affirmative recovery programs and have dedicated resources in legal and procurement to recoup the value of affirmative opportunities. As in-house counsel and legal departments seek to bring added value in the current corporate environment, a mature and comprehensive program can generate multiple significant recoveries annually. But, as in-house counsel and departments are already stretched, how do you navigate the dynamic world of affirmative recovery to start or grow a program?
Join our panelists for a 1-hour presentation that will provide practical guidance on establishing your program, including ways to build on existing and ongoing efforts. We will cover specific opportunities that are timely in 2022, and those that are likely to develop given enforcement priorities and the global environment. The material will also provide steps needed to partner with corporate business teams in order to maximize value from each opportunity and the program overall, in ways that align business and legal goals.

This program will feature a conversation with the performer who brings the Phanatic to life night after night: Tom Burgoyne! Tom will share stories and lessons from decades as a professional mascot. In addition, Duane Morris attorneys Christi Campbell and Tyler Marandola will join the conversation to provide informative background and analysis of a recent copyright lawsuit involving the Phanatic, and other legal issues that face lawyers (and occasionally mascots) of all stripes.
