Does your company need to be monitoring for online infringements? How do you choose an enforcement vendor? What does a successful online brand protection program look like? Our panel—comprising Kilpatrick partners Dave Caplan and Crystal Genteman and inhouse attorneys Leah Feinman and Campbell Irving—will answer these questions and more.

Speakers:

David Caplan and Crystal Genteman, Partners at Kilpatrick

Leah Feinman, Senior Legal Counsel, Trademarks, The Coca-Cola Company

Elizabeth Lester, Assistant General Counsel, Intellectual Property, Equifax

Speaker Bios:

David Caplan leads Kilpatrick’s online enforcement team. He has spent 25 years protecting clients’ intellectual property rights against infringements online and has designed and implemented intellectual property enforcement programs for companies across industries.

Crystal Genteman focuses her practice on intellectual property enforcement, counseling clients on a range of trademark and copyright issues and advising them on strategies for protecting their brands. She specializes in protecting clients’ intellectual property rights online and in opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.

Leah Feinman is a practical-minded IP attorney with a focus on providing risk-based analyses to allow executives to make business-led decisions. Her background includes experience managing global trademark portfolios across enterprises, counseling on overall IP strategy, and risk mitigation at law firms and global companies.

Elizabeth Lester is an experienced Intellectual Property Counsel with a demonstrated history of creating and growing an intellectual property function in-house, including management of domestic IP international portfolio and strategies across a variety of technologies. With over 7 years’ experience practicing in-house as the sole IP attorney and primary legal advisor for all IP matters, and in private practice at a large firm, I have worked closely with businesses of all sizes and technologies, from my current role in an innovative data and analytics, software, and technology company through its dramatic cloud transformation to my prior role working with inventors, faculty, start-ups, and Fortune 100 companies in the chemical, mechanical, energy, material, consumer product, and other industries.

CLE credit will be provided.

Join us for a dynamic and candid panel discussion featuring successful General Counsel and seasoned legal recruiters as they share the real-world strategies that help in-house lawyers advance their careers—whether you're aiming for your first promotion or envisioning a future GC role.

Rather than diving into dense legal subject matter, this conversation shines a light on the practical, often overlooked moves that accelerate growth: positioning yourself for visibility, expanding your skill set, seeking out cross-functional opportunities, and demonstrating leadership long before it appears on your title. Panelists will reflect on their own journeys, discuss the traits and behaviors they see in rising legal leaders, and offer insight into what differentiates those who steadily advance from those who stall.

You’ll learn:

  • How high-performing in-house counsel set themselves up for advancement
  • What GCs look for when identifying emerging leaders on their teams
  • Strategic ways to broaden your expertise—such as volunteering for projects or learning new areas of the business
  • How to think about career progression, from early milestones to senior roles
  • The evolving skill sets required of modern legal leaders

Whether you're exploring leadership growth, actively preparing for your next step, or simply curious about how others navigated their path, this session offers accessible, honest, and actionable guidance from those who’ve been there.

This is a tailored version of the classic CLL presentation given every year at the Copyright Society’s Annual Meeting.

Cases discussed will cover key copyright developments over the last 1-2 years that are of interest and relevance to in-house practitioners, including the use of copyrighted materials to train AI models, the commercial use of memes, when using a copyrighted image constitutes fair use, whether a copyright termination notice can have worldwide reach, and more!

Well, give yourself a pat on the back if you saw all that coming! Join Jackson Lewis P.C. attorneys as they recap 2025 and explain the legal developments that impacted employers and – to the extent possible – what might await employers in 2026. In addition to executive orders and administrative actions, the program will cover the response from states, as well as federal, state, and local legislation and impactful court cases.
