Corporate counsel have a lot on their plate.  Insurance law may not seem like a priority to an attorney concerned about securities or construction law, or just keeping the business out of trouble.  But insurance is a topic ignored at one's peril, whether in the context of responding to litigation or an investigation, filing a lawsuit, or merely looking into potential liability-producing events.  This event will provide attorneys with the understanding and necessary street smarts about how insurance policies work to avoid losing the coverage potentially available to you.

Attorney burnout: the next pandemic and what to do about it

A recent Bloomberg survey reported that attorneys felt burnout in their jobs 52% of the time. Attorneys were also asked how their overall well-being has changed and, not surprisingly, the majority of respondents reported that their well-being slightly or significantly worsened. Do you or your team members feel drained, run down and uninterested in life? You could be burning out. Burnout happens when you’re mentally, emotionally and physically exhausted. Burning out at work can seriously affect the health and productivity of your team. What can we do about it? Come and join your colleagues to:

  • Assess your current burnout level
  • Work through a process to reduce burnout
  • Create a plan to set boundaries, find a creative outlet and accept things outside your control
  • Celebrate being together and connect over nibbles and drinks - an antidote to burnout!

Program Title:   Challenges and Strategies for Preserving Privilege When In-House Counsel Serves in a Dual Role

Missouri CLE:  1.2 ETHICS Hours

Presented by Tucker Ellis and the Association of Corporate Counsel – St. Louis Chapter

How do in-house counsel effectively protect the privilege of their communications when asked to advise on business, technical, ethical and even financial matters?

This panel will discuss application of the attorney-client privilege and the work product doctrine to protect communications in situations commonly encountered by in-house counsel such as communications with experts, consultants, outside auditors, and former employees, virtual meetings, preparing for deposition testimony, and most importantly giving business advice that later becomes relevant to litigation.

The program will focus on the challenges and offer strategies for where and how to draw the lines when the lines are blurred between legal counsel and business advice.

**Arrive Up To 1-hour before registration to stroll the Chihuly in the Garden 2023 Exhibit.  Free Admission included with RSVP**
