JOINTLY PRESENT

Marijuana and CBD Use by Employees in 2021- The Critical Questions

Presented by: Kyle B. Russell, Principal and Sarah J. Millsap, Principal

Wednesday, December 8, 2021

12:00 – 1:00PM
via Zoom Webinar

Program Summary:
The public perception of marijuana is changing quickly. The majority of states now have medical marijuana or cannabis laws and at least 19 states now permit recreational marijuana use. How does this impact the workplace? Should employers still be testing for marijuana? If so, when? Can employers still reject an applicant who fails a drug test based on marijuana use? What policy revisions should be considered? We will provide answers to these questions and provide practical guidance to address this changing landscape.

Discussion Topics & Objectives:

  • How recreational marijuana impacts the workplace and testing laws (25 minutes)
  • Policies and procedures for the workplace regarding drug testing (25 minutes)
  • Guidance on how marijuana laws may change moving forward (10 minutes)

We encourage members to bring an associate or colleague that may be interested in joining the ACC Mid-America Chapter. The Association of Corporate Counsel offers numerous benefits and resources to in-house counsel including CLE offerings and networking opportunities and we look forward to sharing that information with others in the field.

Having an executive presence – engaging your audience with gravitas and impact – is it possible while in a video conference?

As the prevalence of remote work has sky-rocketed during the pandemic, almost all corporate meetings and events are now held virtually, over a video conferencing platform such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams. In fact, even when a return to the physical office becomes viable, remote work will likely remain an ongoing option for most corporate employees on a full- or part-time basis.

In a virtual environment, how can you develop and maintain an executive presence with clients and colleagues?

Please join us for a discussion about this general question on Thursday, March 11, at 4:00 PM CT, while considering guidance from industry experts, some of which we’ve compiled in these preview materials:
