We hope that you can join us at an exclusive lunch for senior in-house lawyers.  This roundtable event will be facilitated by Catriona Wearn, Executive Manager, Legal and Governance RAC, and Linda Grace, Head of Ashurst Advance Reach.

Across the globe CEO's are preparing for a downturn in economic conditions. In turn, in-house teams are once again being asked to tighten their belts, and do more with even less. Knowing where (and how) to start streamlining a legal function can be overwhelming.

At this intimate round table gathering the speakers will share their experience and insights. We will also have the opportunity to share strategies that have successfully increased efficiencies to create recession resilient teams, who are also highly valued and respected in their organisations.

Seats at this event are limited. Please RSVP as soon as possible to confirm your place.

In-house lawyers are grappling with a dynamic regulatory environment in Australia regarding cybersecurity.

Australia’s regulators are increasing their focus on the systemic risk of cyber threats across the Australian economy. Their message is clear: cyber is a key strategic risk that needs strong governance frameworks to address it. No longer is it enough for in-house legal teams to just get involved after a cyber incident, they should be actively engaging in cyber risk management – from preparedness to regulatory compliance.

Our expert panel will share valuable insights into the shifting regulatory landscape and the impetus for in-house counsel to play a key role in driving cyber maturity and risk mitigation, as well as your role in responding to a cyber incident. Hear from a range of different perspectives including a cybersecurity government expert, a former Chief Information Security Officer, a former regulator and privacy specialist, and a risk and investigations professional.

Working closely with your IT team is crucial to ensure a robust cybersecurity strategy. You are welcome to bring your IT manager/Information Security Officer to this event to help strengthen your working relationship in protecting your organisation.

Lorraine Finlay was appointed to the position of Human Rights Commissioner on 22 November 2021 and will share with us her transition to the role and recent engagements. Lorraine has spearheaded a submission to the United Nations Committee against Torture and currently leads the work of the Commission on issues surrounding the use of technology in Human Rights and Artificial Intelligence in Law.

Prior to this appointment, Lorraine was a Senior Human Trafficking Specialist with the Australian Mission to ASEAN and a Lecturer at Murdoch University, with a focus on human rights, constitutional law and criminal law.

A panel discussion will follow Lorraine's presentation and you will have an opportunity to ask questions.

A light continental breakfast will be served.
Spaces are limited, so please RSVP here or by clicking the button below. Once we reach capacity for this event, we will operate a waitlist.
We hope you can join us.

Are you an in-house lawyer or a magician?  Some may say both, as you ‘pull rabbits of out hats’ every day to help your business achieve its goals and ‘create illusions’ by responding with creative and innovative alternative legal strategies.

In this session, you will hear from some of Perth’s leading in-house counsel (aka ‘The Illusionists’) on their best tricks of the trade and when they know it’s time to perform with an assistant (external legal providers) or better to perform solo (keeping the work in-house).

You will also have the opportunity to connect with peers across the industry after the session, with networking drinks and canapes provided, and entertainment from a roving magician!

Do you believe in magic? If yes, we look forward to seeing you at this event hosted by the national law firm and ACC partner, Piper Alderman.

Presentation: 4:15 pm
