The ACC NCR Board of Directors and the Corporate Counsel Awards Co-Chairs and Judges are excited to invite you to the 17th annual Corporate Counsel Awards Reception!

Please join us as we celebrate the finalists, toast the winners, and network!

The 2021 Corporate Counsel Awards finalists and special award recipients will be announced shortly.

Additional details, including directions for logging into the Reception, will be provided in a reminder email to all who are registered for the event.

Registration is free for members and sponsors (the number of representatives that may attend depends on the sponsor level).  In lieu of paying a fee, we hope that you will contribute to the chapter's fundraising campaign for The Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law at www.lawyerscommittee.org/accncr . The fee for non-member in-house counsel and their colleagues is $30.  Personal guests are welcome. Please do not invite representatives of law firms or vendors that compete with current sponsors.

Progress in diversity, equity, and inclusion continues to be a priority at ACC NCR and with our members and sponsors.  Join ACC NCR sponsors and in-house counsel at this year’s Sponsor Return on Investment program as we share cost-effective methods to further your initiatives and support internal goals.  Chapter Board Members Matthew Dost and Zack Stewart, along with Co-Chair of the ACC Leadership Academy Steering Committee Sandy Paik, Director of Diversity & Inclusion for Blank Rome Krystal Studavent Ramsey, and Morrison & Foerster Partner Demme Doufekias will provide guidance on how you can leverage the benefits of your ACC NCR sponsorship to advance both your growth and your diversity goals. After the presentation, attendees will be invited to participate in small-group breakouts to network and discuss working together to champion, measure, and accomplish our collective DE&I goals.

We encourage all of our sponsors to invite their internal DE&I leaders as well as their primary contacts to attend the event.  To support you doing so, we are increasing the number of representatives that you may send from two to three (Diamond may send four).

Racial and social justice reform is critical to the success of any organization.  Affinity/Employee Resource Group (ERG) networks can play a key role in such reform by supporting employees and improving inclusion. During this roundtable conversation, we will share best practices surrounding the formation of Affinity/ERG networks within organizations and legal departments.  Additionally, we will discuss the role of the legal department and identify and offer solutions to the legal issues involved in this process.

Presented by Lloyd Freeman, Chief Diversity Officer at Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, Amy Miller, Shareholder and co-head of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney's Washington D.C. office and C. Edwin Hopkins-Gillispie, Director - Employment Practices, Lidl US LLC.

This session is for informational purposes only, no MCLE credit will be offered.

Join your ACC NCR peers and members of our Employment & Labor Committee for a roundtable discussion about returning to the office and the post-covid workplace. Come share your thoughts and listen in as we discuss the myriad of legal and practical challenges we will all face in the coming months as staff start returning to the office and things start to “get back to normal.” Discussionsnwill include responding to health and safety concerns, remote working, flexibility and equity issues, and the impact of Covid on law department operations going forward.

This is not a sponsored program, but an opportunity to share our collective wisdom and test ideas in an informal and collaborative setting.

To keep the discussion interactive, we will be capping registration so please check your calendars before you RSVP.

During this presentation, a seasoned panel will discuss the challenges faced by companies involved in claims with their government customers as well as subcontractors.  We will share common mistakes made by companies that result in the need to file a claim against the government and mistakes made by other companies that have resulted in one of the Boards of Contract Appeals or the U.S. Court of Federal Claims denying the appeal of a contracting officer’s decision.  In addition, we will examine issues that can arise in the context of a prime contractor/subcontractor relationship and effective strategies for managing outside counsel during the litigation process.

Boland, Partners with Venable LLP, David Newsome, Assistant General Counsel Government Contracts, Executive Director at Vectrus, Elizabeth Gill, Vice President, Deputy General Counsel at CACI International Inc., and Danielle Noe, Division Vice President and Corporate Counsel at Jacobs Engineering Group, Inc.
