What You Must Know and Should Do

No matter what sector you are in - or whether you are a small business, large corporation, non-profit or a public sector organization - you are at risk of significant liability from cybersecurity deficiencies and practices. Cybersecurity deficiencies create significant liability that even if not exploited by hackers, you can expect will be exploited by plaintiff attorneys or regulators. Don't be caught unprepared!

In this interactive educational webinar you will learn:

  • Which cybersecurity deficiencies and practices create liability under federal and state unfair or deceptive acts or practices (UDAP) laws.
  • How cybersecurity deficiencies created over $700M in UDAP liability in one recent case.
  • How cybersecurity deficiencies created a five year, thousands of dollars in UDAP liability in another case even though there was no data breach or theft.
  • How federal and state regulators are ramping up enforcement actions for privacy and cybersecurity deficiencies.
  • The five critical steps and tools to mitigate cybersecurity deficiencies and UDAP liability before any damage is done.

This educational webinar is designed for business owners, CEOs, COOs, CTOs, CIOs, CISOs, CPOs, CROs and in-house legal counsel to gain timely and practical how-to knowledge to mitigate the risk.

Each attendee will also receive an electronic copy of Sai Huda’s best-selling book, Next Level Cybersecurity.

The killing of George Floyd while in police custody and subsequent protests around the world have brought renewed focus on racial disparities in society. This program, presented as part of a commitment by SHRM and the Association of Corporate Counsel to help organizations move beyond discussions and take action, will examine race relations in the workplace. You will learn strategies organizations' chief HR officers and chief legal officers can champion to improve diversity, acceptance, and open dialogue in their organizations, and how they can work together to amplify results.

To accommodate anticipated large interest in this program, it will be offered in three sessions: 10:00 am, 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm.

New Lawsuits, New Exposure, Next Juries!

Join this virtual event presented by Cooley and the ACC SoCal Attorney Well-Being Committee on this important topic that can help you maintain your well-being as we navigate through these challenging times.

Most of us were already managing “stress” but how has that stress changed, especially given our new work environment and current uncertainties of Covid-19?  How is the threat response triggered by these changes impacting lawyers’ abilities to practice competently and what responsibilities under the Model Rules should they be reminded of during these times?  If stress is a way of the brain saying “pay attention,” can we use that stress to regain our focus to advise our clients and anticipate future challenges?  In this seminar, we will discuss and learn to identify maladaptive strategies and techniques to calm the mind to ensure we have the skill and mental and emotional ability to serve our clients facing a range uncertainty and new challenge

Participants will learn about our natural threat response (stress), how that may be maladaptive in a knowledge economy, and how to change our mindset and response to stress in order to thrive and improve performance. Resources to help lawyers recognize the signs of potential mental health issues and how to get help will also be discussed.

There will be an open discussion after the program from 5:30 to 6:00 pm.
