Join ACC Southern California's Pro bono Committee on May 30 for a webinar on Foster Care Adoption Training presented by the Alliance for Children’s Rights.
The Alliance for Children’s Rights finalizes one third of all adoptions out of foster care in Los Angeles, County, primarily through the assistance of pro bono attorneys. Adoption allows children in foster care to transition into permanent homes that provide much needed stability, parental mentoring, and support. By assisting a family in finalizing an adoption, pro bono attorneys can help guide children to a more stable future.
The 1.5-hour CLE training will address how pro bono attorneys work with the families, prepare the Adoption Request form, and represent the family at the National Adoption Day hearing on either July 26 or November 23 at the Edmund D. Edelman Children’s Courthouse in Monterey Park, California.
A Foster Care Adoption case typically involves a time commitment of 10 to 15 hours total. Volunteers can sign up for available cases following the training.
Roundtable Topic: Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act
We invite you to join your ACCBC peers to talk about legal and other relevant trends affecting Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains.
The Act came in force on January 1, 2024 and imposes an obligation on many Canadian entities to report on the measures taken to prevent and reduce the risk of forced labour or child labour in their supply chains. The first reports under this Act are due by no later than May 31, 2024.
This roundtable is an opportunity for ACC BC in-house counsel to discuss the Act and how they have (or will) comply with it.
Our roundtables have no formal agenda! Agenda topics for the discussion are determined by the participants of the roundtable.
Bring your recommendations, questions and challenges to a table of in-house counsel, and gain valuable feedback and solutions from your peers.
These small group discussions are private, candid, and designed to provide peer support - by in-house, for in-house.
Event Date: Tuesday April 30, 2024 Event Time: 10:30am - 11:30 AM Virtual Meeting Zoom link will be sent out closer to event date.
This event is open to both ACC members and non-members.
This event will qualify for up to 1.0 hours of CPD credits from the Law Society of BC
