Join us for a virtual happy hour hosted by our LGBTQ+ and allies members. Pour your favorite beverage or just join us to catch up with others. All members are welcome to attend.

Join us as we recap one of the most unique years in recent memory. 2020 brought the COVID-19 pandemic, which completely upended the way we all live and work. We will discuss the privacy challenges companies faced with the rapid switch to remote work, and the steps general counsel should take to safeguard data as economies open back up.

While providing an overview of pivotal data privacy and cybersecurity developments that will shape compliance practices as we go into 2021, we will discuss CCPA litigation trends, notable cases and settlements, the Schrems II decision and impacts on the E.U.-U.S. Privacy Shield, class action trends and regulatory privacy enforcement, and what to expect from a President-elect Biden administration and the impact on companies.

Privacy solutions are a continued source of concern for all companies, join us for an overview of the aftermath of 2020.

Presented by Natasha Kohne, Anthony Pierce and Michelle Reed, Partners at Akin Gump and Amy Purcell, Chief Privacy Officer and Senior Counsel of The Vanguard Group, Inc.

Everyone is hopeful that the workplace will return to “normal” as soon as possible—but what will the “new normal” look like?  Join us for a data-driven discussion (courtesy of recent Pew Research Center surveys) of what the real impacts of the pandemic have been and will be on working Americans, how some companies such as Salesforce are tackling these challenges as they look ahead, and the key legal issues companies are and will be facing during this transition.
 Key topics include:
·       How has working from home been successful vs. unsuccessful, and for which categories of employees?
·       How can employers assist in transitioning their employees either back into the office or in a permanent remote setting post-COVID?
·       How can companies handle accommodations post-COVID under the Americans with Disabilities Act and corresponding state laws?
·       How can companies adjust policies and procedures and ensure legal compliance resulting from employees who moved during the pandemic or who may want to move if remote work is allowed to continue?  We will discuss the various legal issues that can result from remote workers including tax compliance, workers’ compensation, and state and local leave laws.

Presented by Emerald Sponsor Squire Patton Boggs.
Featuring:
*       Juliana Horowitz, Associate Director of Research at Pew Research Center focusing on demographics and social trends.
*       Leo Murgel, Vice President, Legal & Corporate Affairs COO of salesforce.
