The COVID-19 pandemic has left an indelible impact on the workplace, causing employers to deal with a wave of medical leaves and a shift to virtual workplace. As a result, employers face a host of compliance issues in navigating leave and accommodation issues.

In this complimentary webinar, Littler attorneys will tackle the most common and difficult leave and accommodation scenarios that employers have encountered during the COVID-19 pandemic and will provide practical suggestions on how employers can address these situations.

Through the use of case studies (and maybe a tiny bit of humor), we will cover:

  • Is an employee who tests positive for COVID-19 eligible for FMLA leave?
  • How to address an employee who has a generalized fear of returning to work because of the pandemic.
  • Whether FMLA leave applies when an employee claims they cannot return to work during the pandemic because they have an underlying medical condition.
  • Can an employee take FMLA leave to sit at home during a pandemic with a family member who is considered high risk?
  • Is physical presence at work critical anymore? Handling work-from-home requests during the pandemic.

Looking to launch a pro bono program or gain tips for improving your existing program?

Learn best practices for creating new programs and collaborating with other in-house, law firm, government, and legal services lawyers to build community and serve pro bono clients.  There is more to it than advertising pro bono opportunities.

Join the Association of Corporate Counsel National Capital Region  and the Washington Council of Lawyers for this program to hear from panelists with experience leading programs in their in-house legal departments.  Presenters will provide practical advice on the decisions to be made and steps to take to build a strong foundation that will both encourage and support volunteers using their legal skills to help those unable to afford legal services.

The presentation will take place 12 - 1 pm ET and be followed by an online pro bono fair 1 - 2 pm ET, during which attendees will be able to select up to four break-out sessions featuring legal services organizations and in-house volunteers discussing volunteer opportunities.  Registrants may attend either or both the program and fair.

The ACC Georgia Women’s Initiative invites you to join our book-club-style virtual event to talk about Caste:The Origins of Our Discontents by Isabel Wilkerson!

In the last few years, our country has gone through a racial awakening at a scale that the country has not seen since the height of the civil rights movement in the 1960s.  Many books have been written recently to explore racial issues and to try to explain why we interact with different races the way we do.  Pulitzer Prize winning author Isabel Wilkerson’s Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents is one of the best books on the topic. The Chicago Tribune writes that Caste “should be at the top of every American’s reading list.” It is also one of the 2020 picks by Oprah’s Book Club.

You do not have to read the book to participate in the conversation, but having read the book before the event would certainly lead to a deeper and more meaningful conversation.

We look forward to having an honest, open, respectful conversation about the book.

Executive Presence in the Virtual Environment
