Session Topics will include:

  • Overview of prohibitions in the workplace by the Florida Stop W.O.K.E. Act
  • Steps employers should take to safeguard their current anti-discrimination training programs from mounting "discomfort" claims
  • Potential challenges a mandate such as this poses for companies operating nationwide and seeing to preserve their Faragher-Ellerth defense to hostile work environment claims

Each year corporate law departments spend millions of dollars on Motions to Dismiss, Preliminary Objections and Motions for Summary Judgement, and the result, most often, is not dispositive. This program will offer a critical look at the state of the law and practice surrounding dispositive motions, leaving in-house practitioners better equipped to consider the cost/benefit analysis of dispositive motions in their cases.

The program will discuss how to design and implement privacy policies based on both US and EU privacy laws, as well as a primer for implementing and administering virtual patent marking web pages.

Topic:

Issues and Opportunities in Blockchain

Some compare distributed ledger or blockchain technology to the internet hypertext transfer protocol that spawned the world wide web, transformed industries, and created new business models. The Biden administration signaled its interest in regulating the technology and its users in its March 2022 Executive Order on Ensuring Responsible Development of Digital Assets. However, bitcoin was launched in January 2009. It and other cryptocurrencies are already in worldwide use. Numerous blockchain businesses are already in operation and many companies have devoted millions to adapting their existing businesses to a distributed model. This presentation will:

  • Provide a background on blockchain technology and governance models, cryptocurrency, and non-fungible tokens (NFTs)
  • Discuss blockchain business models
  • Report on recent U.S. legal developments
  • Project future regulatory initiatives

In this intriguing Webcast, Stuart Teicher, Esq. (the CLE Performer) tells a tale involving drug dealers, money launderers, the ABA’s recent Opinion 491, the EU’s 6th Anti-Money Laundering Directive, and international corruption. In the end, you’ll learn about the newly created responsibility for lawyers to ask questions about our client’s bad deeds.

Big Data and artificial intelligence (AI) are increasingly playing an important role in driving innovation in practically all commercial and non-commercial aspects. Given the significant investments businesses are making into developing AI systems and collection of data, it is important for in-house counsel to implement a proactive and competitive strategy to protect IP rights in AI as well as the collected data. There is a reciprocal relationship between AI and big data because the success of AI depends heavily on big data while AI helps unlock the potential of large amounts of data by providing new processing tools, and any IP protection strategy should consider this relationship. The CLE will consider not only patent coverage, but also copyright protection, trade secret protection, and contractual provisions for protection of big data and AI – within U.S. as well as international jurisdictions.

With increasing government oversight of corporations in all areas (including PPP compliance) and the complex business issues arising out of the current economic climate, in-house counsel and corporate leadership will need confidential legal advice from lawyers and non-legal professionals. This webinar will address:

  • when the attorney-client privilege applies;
  • how to safeguard that privilege;
  • the best means of seeking, protecting and communicating attorney-client privileged material within U.S. companies and to cross-border affiliates.

Join Locke Lord Partner, Allison O'Neil, and Associate, Kait Levine-Brown, along with Brian Devine, Vice President, Associate General Counsel at Fidelity Investments, as they explore this important topic.  Our panelists will discuss how to maintain the privilege in interactions with:

  • in-house counsel;
  • business advisors;
  • accountants;
  • public relations consultants.

Register below.  Zoom address will be sent within 24 hours of the webinar.

The ACC Georgia Chapter welcomes  Squire Patton Boggs (US) LLP whose attorneys, Scott Rafshoon and Daniel Delnero, will presentContract Drafting – Tips and Tricks to Avoid Traps”.  This program will examine some of the most important provisions that in-house attorneys should consider when drafting commercial contracts.  We will focus on the mundane, but critical – confidentiality, choice of law, authority to contract – as well as the more complicated like indemnification and arbitration.  This will be presented from the perspective of a contract drafter as well as a litigator.

You may be operating under the old adage of with hard work comes great reward. Yet, based on the simple economic model of supply and demand, did you know that if you are too accessible, taking on too many priorities, and over producing, you most likely are driving down the value of your professional stock? You may be missing out on critical growth relationships and not aligned to the right relationships and strategies to lead, grow and advance yourself and your impact. Producing is not leading. Reassess your leadership mindset, gain insight into the production trap and seize control through self-awareness, clarity and boundary setting for yourself, your relationship with your boss and your organization. Not only will you step up your leadership impact, but you may also get time for your life back. While this topic is important to all emerging growth leaders – we will also address elements that are especially important for growing women leaders who get stalled in their career advancement.
