The agenda is being finalized for the coming year and will be updated when available.

Introducing a new webinar series brought to you by ACC Northeast NextGen Committee & Preti.

If you are new to in-house or are just looking for a quick refresher, this is your opportunity to be introduced to topics you are likely to encounter in an in-house role and to which you may not have had much exposure in your prior roles. These “intro” programs will presented by attorneys from Preti, the sponsors of the NextGen Committee.

This second installment will cover Bankruptcy, an ever present issue for all companies who need to utilize third party vendors and suppliers to operate their business.  In order to keep your business running, you rely on suppliers, vendors, and distributors.  What if one of those businesses is in financial trouble and may file bankruptcy?  What if they do file bankruptcy?

Creditors’ Rights attorney, Bodie Colwell, will provide an overview of bankruptcy and some practical guidance on steps to take when you are dealing with a company in financial distress or in bankruptcy.

We encourage you to bring a colleague and/or someone you know who is new to in-house. Members are encouraged to invite non members as this is a great learning opportunity.

Register below. The Zoom address will be sent within 24 hours of the event.

Many of us struggle when it comes to talking about our own accomplishments. Cultural and gender modesty norms as well as impostor syndrome can prevent anyone from acknowledging their remarkable attributes and expressing their achievements.

Google’s worldwide #IamRemarkable initiative strives to empower women and underrepresented groups to celebrate their achievements in the workplace and beyond. At the heart of this initiative is an interactive 90-minute facilitated workshop during which you will learn the importance of self-promotion in your personal and professional life.

By attending the workshop, you will walk away equipped with tools to develop this skill, challenge the social perception around self-promotion, and reflect on how we can all be better allies and advocates for underrepresented groups so that together we can build a more inclusive world.

On Wednesday, August 24, the Greater Cleveland Food Bank invites ACC NEO members and Sutter O'Connell attorneys to assist with projects in the Repack area. The shift will run from 5:00pm - 8:00pm, and we will be recruiting 10-15 volunteers in order to allow for appropriate social distancing during the project.

Throughout Northeast Ohio, one in six people is food insecure – meaning they may not know where their next meal will come from. The Greater Cleveland Food Bank seeks to bridge the meal gap, connecting individuals with the nutritious meals they need to succeed.

The Greater Cleveland Food Bank is the largest hunger relief organization in Northeast Ohio having provided more than 57 million meals in 2018 to hungry people in Cuyahoga, Ashtabula, Geauga, Lake, Ashland and Richland counties.

The program will cover the following:

Regardless of size, all organizations with operations subject to regulation should develop a formal compliance program appropriate for its size and operation. According to recent remarks by Assistant Attorney General Kenneth Polite at a recent program on Corporate Compliance and Enforcement, “an effective corporate compliance program needs to be much more than a company’s policies, procedures, and internal controls.” With an increasingly tough enforcement environment, and greater demands for transparency and accountability, an effective compliance program is no longer just “nice-to-have.” It’s essential.

Regardless of your experience with compliance, the Miles & Stockbridge team will share the insights that will help you improve your program, increase employee awareness and decrease legal risk. They will share critical insights on best practices and real-life experience with compliance in today’s corporate environment, including an interactive session to test your company’s compliance readiness for cybersecurity.
