Connecticut and several other states have adopted privacy laws that grant rights to state residents and require specific disclosures. More states are expected to follow. This program is designed to help Connecticut businesses to determine applicability and to comply with these new laws.

  • Perfecting your résumé.
  • Improving your LinkedIn profile.
  • Leveraging your network and improving your networking skills.
  • Your next career step.
  • Developing a career plan.

IMPORTANT:  Due to the nature of the program, we ask that you make sure to attend any session for which you register or let us know in advance that you need to cancel so that another member can have your slot.


SMALL GROUP BREAKOUT SESSIONS:

ACC National Capital Region has also engaged a professional photographer to take professional head-shots of any participants who may want them for their LinkedIn profile or other purpose. Back By Popular Demand: Fashion Jeopardy Holiday Fun!!!

Please join our distinguished panel for a discussion relating to ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance), which is taking on increased importance with corporate investors, employees, and other stakeholders.  Our panel will discuss ESG basics and management of the ESG reporting function along with the importance of various areas within the ESG framework that are most impactful for their respective stakeholders.  We will also explore the role of corporate legal teams with respect to ESG reporting and goal determination, as well as how legal teams can be more involved in this dynamic area.

Although the focus on ESG considerations has increased in the past few years, the focus on climate change in particular has been particularly intense.  Companies are feeling the pressure to say the right things, but are increasingly being held to account for the things that they say.  Whether through regulatory action, or by claims by individuals and organizations, companies are facing greater risks with respect to claims of greenwashing.

This session will address the legal framework for potential claims related to climate and environmental impact and greenwashing.  The session will wrap up with key takeaways for in-house counsel to keep in mind in this rapidly changing landscape and enable them to effectively advise boards and management on litigation risks associated with deceptive green claims.

 

Topics will include:

• General outline of legal framework

• Survey of global cases and outcomes, identifying themes where plaintiffs have found success/failure

• Application of themes to the Canadian law context

• Practical risk mitigation strategies Canadian businesses should be considering now.
