Being an effective and credible in-house counsel is challenging, especially in times of stress and change.  But the way to get to that point is not a secret.  Instead, it takes knowledge and practice of habits and soft-skills that most of us use regularly in our non-lawyer roles – skills like mindful listening; curiosity; and self-awareness.  This two hour session includes lecture, discussion, and role play to describe and practice the primary soft-skills that are beginning to be included in most company training programs and which have helped in-house lawyers from both large and small companies to become more approachable, and more effective at accomplishing their goals.
