Join us for a breakfast briefing to discuss trending legal issues facing employers in Alabama. This event will provide an update on topics such as pay equity, remote work as an accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act, leave benefits for adoption, and recent 11th Circuit and Alabama case law impacting employers.

Volunteers will empower HCC clients to resolve their housing-related legal issues by advising them on their rights and responsibilities under Texas landlord-tenant laws.

What to expect:

Our Legal Clinic begins with a "general" presentation of Landlord-Tenant Law. Duration: 20 - 30 minutes. Afterwards, participants break out into offices for an "advice only" consultation from Texas licensed, volunteer attorneys (each of you). We have information (packets of legal documents) available to volunteer attorneys to provide to participants.  For those who would like a full training, one can be accessed at https://youtu.be/aZ0GcBjiIVI.

Worried about a lack of experience in this area of the law?  Don't be.  Knowledgeable attorneys from both Reed Smith and HCC will be there to help guide you every step of the way.

Only have a limited amount of time to serve?  Come and give whatever time you are able to give, whether that's a half hour or the duration of the meeting.  Also, this is an advice-only clinic, so there is no commitment to represent or help the clients following this event.

For returning volunteers:

For returning volunteer attorneys, the "bins" of documents/packets, are now in drawers of a file cabinet. Please arrive early to familiarize yourself with which documents are available to clinic participants. For new volunteers, a key feature/benefit of our clinic is that our attorneys provide legal documents/packets, for participants to file for court.

Join ACC St. Louis and Gowling WLG for a closer look at key legal issues that a company may face when expanding outside of the United States.

In the second episode in our First Call Country Series, a panel of UK lawyers from Gowling WLG will be joined by counsel from MiTek, to discuss real-world legal aspects of doing business in the UK.

Drawing on a wealth of experience of advising US based clients, we will explore what differences and difficulties companies, and their counsel, are likely to experience when starting, acquiring or carrying on a business in the UK, and how those issues can be addressed.

We also hope to pick the brains of Amit Shah, General Counsel from MiTek on their story, and to share our views on how we see the UK's legislative regime and economy developing in coming years, after some of the seismic events that we have witnessed recently.

We look forward to seeing you online on Monday, November 21st.

Join ACC St. Louis and Gowling WLG for a closer look at key legal issues that a company may face when expanding outside of the United States.

Expanding a business across borders can be an effective and significant way to increase your company’s customer base, enhance your talent pool and explore new markets.  However, the process may seem daunting as you try to navigate a whole new system of laws and regulations.       Gowling WLG is pleased to present its First Call Country Series in which we will explore key legal issues that a company may face when expanding outside the United States.  In this series we will look at expansion into a number of countries, including Canada, United Kingdom, France, the Middle East and others.

In this Canadian edition, our panel will discuss ways to enter the Canadian market, the flow of money across borders, and issues relating to both the hiring of Canadian employees and the movement of company employees across the border.  We will also explore how to protect your company’s IP in Canada and some unique “Canadian” issues for companies looking to do business in Quebec.
