Join the ACC St. Louis and Washington University Olin Business School for a half day program on Leadership and Decision Making on Friday, April 14th.

Today's corporate attorneys are frequently called upon to make critical decisions that impact many different stakeholders. These high-risk, high-opportunity decisions are often made under considerable time pressure. How much weight do we give to analytics and data versus experience, emotion and intuition?

Session #1:  What Are the Attributes of a Great Leader? with Professor Hillary Elfenbein

  • In this session, Dr Elfenbein presents the Olin Business School's leadership model developed from the evidence-based science of leadership development with      focus both on WHO the leader is (personal values and attributes) and WHAT the leader does (content mastery and intellectual skills).
  • Personal characteristics are hard to change and not necessarily desirable to change. Rather, the best plan for professional development is self-awareness and thoughtful planning where ones default personal style is right for the job.
  • By contrast, leadership skills are critical to develop and learning them is accelerated in a context of feedback, coaching and self-reflection.

Session #2:  The Decision Making Framework with Dr. Peter Boumgarden, PhD.

  • We'll investigate what it means to make a strategic decision, by introducing a set of concepts for making decisions with greater strategic acuity
  • You will walk away with a set of frameworks for decision-making, and an application for how it would function in teh context of legal space

Please join us for a special ACC Round Table CLE discussion on the topic of "Nearshoring in North America: U.S.-Mexico Transportation and Energy Sectors at a Crossroads."

To effectively navigate the integrated, dynamic and constantly growing North American market, it is critical to understand legal developments in two major sectors that drive the region’s economy: transportation and energy. This event will offer the audience high-level legal and political insights at this historic time of regional development, which demands resilience in both sectors so the United States and Mexico can take full advantage of the opportunities arising from the current nearshoring trend.
