Legal Prep is Chicago’s first and only legal-themed high school and serves 285 students from its West Garfield Park location.  Legal Prep’s mission is to provide a high-quality high school education in one of Chicago’s most under resourced communities and use its legal-theme curriculum and programs to give students the skills to be successful in college and life.  Founded in 2012, Legal Prep is consistently recognized in its eight years of operation as the highest rated open enrollment high school in a two-mile radius.

During these challenging times, what can YOU do to show your support for increased diversity within the legal profession and make a difference in our community?  Come help improve the school and its grounds!

During that day, we will repaint various common spaces in the school; organize its utility, supply, and storage spaces; provide basic garden work around the building – specifically in the courtyard; set up Chromebooks for upcoming school year; and organize Library books and shelves.

Don’t miss the opportunity to make a difference. Join us!  Register by July 15th.

Lucy Cooper's was written up in the San Antonio Current as having the "best wings in town" and was voted best bar in San Antonio in 2019.

Bring your best thinking hat because you will also be "served up" with brain stumping trivia with a prize going to the person who answers the most correctly. See you there!

"Summertime, and the livin' is easy..." Come for tasty food, refreshing beverages, and the great company of your ACC colleagues. We'll have a private room and an attached private patio to enjoy, no matter what the weather brings. The festivities start at 5 PM, but feel free to arrive a bit later than that.

Admission is free and open to ACC members (and to in-house counsel first-time guests). Convenient parking abounds in the lot outside the restaurant.

Please join members of the ACCSTL Diversity and Inclusion Committee and Social Justice Coalition in celebrating Juneteenth at the unveiling of the Freedom Suits Memorial this Monday, June 20 at 5:00pm on the East plaza of the Civil Courts Building on 11th Street.

This memorial commemorates the work of hundreds of individuals who sued to obtain their freedom from slavery in the decades leading up to the Civil War. The memorial includes a visual depiction of these suits through a bronze sculpture created by Preston Jackson, African American artist and Professor Emeritus at School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and will also display the names of plaintiffs of the suits.

Speakers will include Lt. General Russel L. Honore, Mayor Tishaura Jones, Lynne Jackson (the great-great granddaughter of noted freedom suits plaintiffs Dred and Harriet Scott), United States Representative Cori Bush, Missouri State Senator Steven Roberts, and St. Louis Circuit City Judge the Honorable David C. Mason, who developed the concept for this memorial.

All are welcome to attend. If you are interested in meeting with other ACC members while in attendance, please contact Vikas Sunkari (vikas.sunkari@ssmhealth.com), Diversity and Inclusion Committee Chair, or Lisa Savoy (Lisa.Savoy@experian.com), Social Justice Coalition Chair.

To most in-house attorneys, reviewing and approving legal invoices is just a part of the job that comes with the territory. However, these invoices contain critical information that can help an in-house legal team learn about their spend patterns and provide the data needed to strategically empower their legal team to do more. Add to that, the ability to access data from over $40B of legal invoices, your in-house team legal team can learn uncover new insights and gain new ways to control outside counsel spend. LexisNexis CounselLink has just released its annual Trends Report. We’ll discuss key findings in the report and how benchmarks can be used to help manage outside counsel costs.

As the global economy emerges from pandemic shutdowns and slowdowns and into inflation and market insecurity, supply chains across the globe continue to suffer delays and cost impacts. Companies responding to supply chain disruptions will find that their obligations, rights, and remedies largely depend on specific contractual language. A carefully crafted (or renegotiated) contract and an appropriate, timely response when issues arise can help your organization avoid or mitigate issues within its supply chain. These presentations consider contract enforcement, renegotiation, and termination in the post-pandemic era of supply chain disruption. They will identify and discuss some leading practices to help inform your organization’s decision-making during these trying times.
