"Financial Institutions, FinTechs and Third-Party Relationships"
Presented by Ballard Spahr

Regulators are scrutinizing third-party relationships maintained by financial institutions, particularly with FinTechs, and the associated operational, consumer protection and compliance risks – including anti-money laundering risks.  In the last few years alone, regulators have announced several consent orders involving banks and their third-party risk management practices.  The values of speed, cost savings and consumer convenience can compete with effective risk management.  The panel will discuss common themes in recent enforcement actions, third-party risk management, and the outsourcing of compliance obligations.

Speakers:

  • Peter Hardy, Partner, Ballard Spahr
  • Chris Pawloski, Sanctions Intelligence and Investigations Team, Bank of China
