Please join the Diversity & Inclusion Social Justice Committee for "Superstition Explored:  Artful Observation with a Cultural Lens" on Friday, November 1st.

Facilitator Dr. Cathleen Fleck, Ph.D., will use Artful Observation techniques to lead members of the St. Louis chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel through an interactive discussion about how belief in superstition and magic has long reflected basic human concerns about life and death.

We will use art from cultures of China, Rome, Greece, and the Middle East from ancient to modern times at the Saint Louis Art Museum to explore how superstition echoes aspects of humans’ struggle with our complex world.

Artful Observation is a project spearheaded by the Saint Louis University Art History Program to establish educational programs based on evidence-based methods about utilizing the visual arts to help students and professionals develop their awareness of issues related to attentiveness, empathy, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

On Saturday, October 26, 2024, join ACC-Austin and help refugees from all over the world integrate into our community and become financially self-sufficient and independent by learning how to start a business in the United States.

Many refugees arrive to our country having run a business in their homelands and they are keen to do the same in their newly adopted country, but do not know how and where to begin. By empowering them to start their businesses, you will be helping them further business growth and development in the Austin area. Volunteers will be teaching a startup workshop to refugees from all over the world. All teaching materials will be provided to volunteers before the workshop. Lunch will be provided to all participants (volunteers and refugees) as well.

Our partner in this project, Global Impact Initiative (GII), is a local nonprofit that empowers refugees through education, mentoring and job skills training that builds generational stability and well-being. For more information about GII, please go to www.globalimpactinitiative.com
