On September 26, 2023, ACC’s Pro bono Committee will partner with the Alliance for Children’s Rights to present a Foster Care Adoption Training.
The Alliance for Children’s Rights finalizes one third of all adoptions out of foster care in Los Angeles, County, primarily through the assistance of pro bono attorneys. Adoption allows children in foster care to transition into permanent homes that provide much needed stability, parental mentoring, and support. By assisting a family in finalizing an adoption, pro bono attorneys can help guide children to a more stable future.
The 1.5-hour CLE training will address how pro bono attorneys will speak with the family, prepare the Adoption Request form, and represent the family at the National Adoption Day hearing on November 18, 2023 at the Edmund D. Edelman Children’s Courthouse in Monterey Park, California.
A Foster Care Adoption case typically involves a time commitment of 10 to 15 hours total.
Please RSVP for the training by September 8, 2023.
Procopio Partners Jessica Lazur and Paul Johnson will lead the group in a discussion via webinar of common considerations when conducting a due diligence review of a target in an M&A transaction. Our seasoned M&A practitioners will review the types of issues that every in-house counsel should consider and discuss with their internal clients both pre- and post-transaction to result in a successful deal and integration.

When it comes to employee benefits, 401(k)s and health plans often get all the buzz. They are offered to all employees, are subject to rules that require a certain level of employee-facing communication, and are the focus of many educational sessions. However, executive compensation and the related tax treatment often goes under the radar. In this session, we will cover the various types of executive compensation along with drafting strategies and pitfalls that often accompany this special brand of compensation.
Please join Barran Liebman partner Iris Tilley for this online presentation.
All in-house attorneys are welcome to participate regardless of membership in the ACC. Please click on the link for more information and to register.

We are deep into another year of lawmaking in the California legislature, and, as usual, a number of significant employment-related bills are currently making their way through the Assembly and Senate. Join Katie McCray and Tia Butler to learn about the bills that may become law in 2023 and how they could change employers’ obligations in the coming year. Katie and Tia will provide updates on the status of key bills and outline ways employers may wish to prepare for potential upcoming changes.
