You are invited to a practical guidance session, by UAE law expert Faisal Attia, where we will show you how to better understand the nature and effect of your contractual obligations, helping ensure that those obligations are ultimately upheld by the UAE courts or arbitral tribunals applying UAE law.
The session will cover the complex interplay between UAE law, specific contractual obligations and the practice of the UAE Courts and help safeguard against common mistakes triggered by employing common law terms in contracts governed by UAE law.
More specifically we will:
Discuss the basics of contract formation and the consequences of failure to comply with key formalities, requisite authorisations and incorporation of terms by reference before moving onto review specific types of contractual obligations.
Analyse the scope of contractual liability, how different conditions can trigger different forms of contractual obligations and how certain contractual clauses would shift burden of proof
Consider the effect of third party rights, suspension, termination and the choice of foreign laws and foreign courts in the UAE
You will also be able to ask questions during a Q&A session at the end. Seats are limited.

Authority, confidence, decisiveness, integrity and vision — these are attributes of that elusive but sought-after quality 'gravitas'. But what exactly is gravitas? And can we learn to project it in board meetings, client presentations and day-to-day staff interactions?
What You Will Learn
Gravitas: Voice and Presence is an interactive 90 minute workshop led by David Pope from All Voice Talent. It aims to raise awareness of how voice and physical presence can be used to project gravitas and covers:
What constitutes "gravitas"
What a voice with gravitas sounds like
Using the science of the voice to speak with gravitas
How speakers use vocal variety to project gravitas
The crucial importance of non-verbals: posture, gesture and expression
Using audio and video samples, as well as interactive group exercises, this workshop will give participants a chance to explore ways of using their voice and physical presence to project gravitas.
Please note that this session will not be recorded and seats are limited so please register early to avoid disappointment.
Every mom is a working mom. Last month on March 12, National Working Moms Day celebrates the breadwinners and the bread makers, the educators and the role models, those resilient, inspirational fixtures in our children’s lives.
You’re all invited to our coffee chat to celebrate all of yourself and all the working mums in your lives, the stories, personal experiences and the ins and outs of career transitions as working mums and caregivers. This coffee chat is all about helping each other better navigate our ventures while balancing the career progression and mum guilt.
This event will not be recorded and no screenshots – this is a “safe space.”
All members are invited to join!

As the climate crisis deepens, lawyers are increasingly being called upon to negotiate with and advise clients on the challenges and opportunities of the net zero transition. General counsel play a unique role in issue spotting for clients, including advising on contract terms related to disclosure and compliance on emissions and supply chain management, and staying up-to-date on the latest regulations and laws relevant to industry and government standards related to climate, biodiversity and value chain due diligence.
This panel of lawyers will reflect on their own experiences and give participants practical advice when advising clients in the net zero transition (even for those whose clients don’t think they need to pay attention)!
