With the rise in pay transparency and pay reporting laws (including two new laws in Washington, D.C. and Maryland), class action lawsuits, and individual lawsuits, employers need to ensure they are in compliance with a patchwork of new laws and consider whether and how they will communicate their pay philosophy.

In this session we will cover changes from this past year in state pay equity, transparency, and data reporting laws. We will also briefly discuss developments in test cases and litigation.

DMV employers will want to join this session for a discussion of best practices and recommendations for navigating all of these issues, including the new D.C. and Maryland requirements, and to learn practical tips for reviewing and improving pay equity.

The ability to adeptly manage financial resources and accurately assess risks is a key component for litigation success. This program is designed to give legal professionals the tools and insights necessary to develop effective budgets and implement risk-adjusted litigation strategies to assist stakeholders in deciding when to settle and for how much. This program delves into methodologies for projecting case values and litigation expenses and balancing them against the risks of ongoing litigation and trial. It will also discuss alternate fee arrangements and provide examples of how to use these arrangements successfully.

Participants will learn how to integrate financial planning with their litigation strategy, ensuring that every case is approached not only with a strong legal footing but also with an outcome-focused strategy that can be effectively communicated to and weighed by non-lawyer business stakeholders.

Presented by Ali Cunningham, Partner and Merideth Daly, Partner at Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP, together with Ryan Leonard, Staff Counsel for Virginia REALTORS®.
