In the first ~45 days of the new Trump administration, immigration and ICE raids made the news almost daily. But what does that mean for employers? ICE raids are but one piece of the puzzle of an overall agenda of heightened enforcement. In this session, immigration attorneys Kelli and Dwight will discuss how heightened enforcement can impact all businesses, from a potential visit for ICE, to audits and other worksite investigations, to considerations for mergers and acquisitions, and more. Whether your company employs individuals needing sponsorship or not, the Department of Homeland Security has broad investigative powers to ensure all employers are compliant with laws requiring only the employment of authorized workers, and any investigation is costly and disruptive, but there are steps your company can take now to be prepared.

Join ACC NCR Community Service and Maryland Advisory Committee for an extraordinary volunteer opportunity at Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary, a beautiful 400-acre refuge in Poolesville, Maryland, that provides lifelong care for over 200 rescued farm animals, including cows, horses, pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, and turkeys.

This special event includes a guided tour where you'll meet the animals and learn their stories, followed by hands-on volunteer activities. Tasks will vary from active, strength-based work to lighter, low-impact options. Families are welcome—children must be ages 16+ to participate, and students can earn community service credit.

We will provide delicious snacks for participants. To respect the sanctuary’s mission, we kindly ask that any food brought be vegan.

Please note: The sanctuary has unpaved paths, so wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting dirty.

Attendance will be capped due to the size of the sanctuary.  We ask that all participants donate $10 directly to the Sanctuary to participate.  Information on how to do this is included when you register.  All donations are non-refundable, but will be applied if the event is rescheduled.
