Courts have always been wary of non-competes and other restrictive covenants for a variety of reasons, including the fact that they are often not negotiated and are viewed as “contracts of adhesion.” Now, due to the perceived overuse (some would say the abuse) of non-competes by many businesses, they are under assault by state and federal governments and regulators. The ACC Georgia Chapter welcomes Berman Fink Van Horn P.C.  whose attorney, Benjamin Fink, will present “Employer Non-Competes and Other Restrictive Covenants: Trends, Traps and Hot Topics”. This presentation will explore the state of restrictive covenant law in Georgia as well as the status of efforts around the country to regulate their use. Trends and recent developments in the related topic of trade secret protection will also be discussed. Come learn everything you need to know to protect the competitive edge of your company!

Berman Fink Van Horn is pleased to make this event available for you to participate as you prefer, whether it is in-person or via Zoom. The webinar portion will begin at 12 pm. In-person attendance is limited to 30 guests and seating will be spaced appropriately. In-person guests will be required to wear masks, except when eating or drinking. Registration to attend in-person will close when maximum count has been reached. ACC membership is open to attorneys who practice law as in-house counsel employees of organizations and who do not hold themselves out to the public for the practice of law.

A CLE credit of one (1) hour is being applied for, and if approved, will be submitted to the Georgia State Bar for attendees licensed to practice in Georgia.

To register go to https://employernoncompetes.eventbrite.com. While we understand that some "no shows" are unavoidable, we kindly ask that you please consider our speakers and hosts who have spent a considerable amount of time and resources to put this event on for you before deciding not to attend. Good attendance helps ensure that ACC Georgia can continue to offer CLE programming and networking events at no cost to our ACC Georgia members. If you need to cancel, we ask for 48 hours’ notice to georgia@accglobal.com. ACC Georgia reserves the right to charge a fee for attendees who do not cancel.

If you have any questions, please contact Connie Swindell-Harding at georgia@accglobal.com.

This program is being co-sponsored with the Women in the House, Real Estate, Corporate Securities, Sports & Entertainment, and Information Governance Networks.

We are very excited to welcome all ACC colleagues and friends to tune in and participate in the interactive discussion with Rudy Rivera, Discover the Power of Your Brand and Connections: Networking and Entrepreneurship Skills for In-house Counsel.  We are fortunate to learn from Rudy about how to establish and manage your professional network and discover how to maximize the return on your unique brand and skillset. Additionally, this will be a great way for ACC members across the globe to connect with their peers from different Networks. We hope you will mark your calendars and participate in this special event.

Happy Holiday Season to everyone from the Leadership Teams of WITH, REN, CSL, SEN & IG!

Employers have dealt with a variety of workplace challenges over the past several years. One phenomenon that employers are dealing with is a surge of political and social activism in the workplace. Individuals across the country are voicing opinions in what can only be described as a highly polarized political environment. Many of these opinions reflect passionate views held by employees concerning race relations, vaccination and firmly held political beliefs. Employees express these viewpoints both on social media, in the workplace and occasionally during working hours. So how should employers continue to balance business operations with the reality of increased employee social activism and polarization?

This presentation provides employers with tools to understand and address activism and polarization in the workplace. More importantly, this presentation will outline the role employers play in reversing the course of polarization and helping employees find their interconnectedness through shared values in the workplace.
