Effective management of legal risk and spending is increasingly essential to the success of businesses across industries and geographies. As the stakes rise, the roles of the legal operations professional and in-house counsel at corporations are vital to that success. Given the advancement of technology along with continuous pressure to contain costs and increase efficiency, these professionals need to partner and innovate collaboratively in order for the Legal Department to function effectively and add to the business success.

ACC Northeast is pleased to partner with Goodwin Procter LLP, a global law firm, for the Legal Operations & Corporate Counsel Roundtable. This Roundtable will highlight and demonstrate ways Legal Departments can make an impact on the business by showcasing several "real world" challenges that will help you mature your legal operations:

  • Best Ways to Utilize Knowledge Management;
  • How to Institute an Inclusive Talent System;

COVID-19 Protocols for the Event:

In addition, we welcome all to wear masks if that is more comfortable for you (vaccinated or not). If we are inside due to inclement weather, then masks must be worn unless eating or drinking. At the moment, the restaurant is not requiring masks, but this could change before August 19th.

After years of being a relative annoyance, ransomware attackers have evolved to become the No. 1 cyber threat to companies today. While the public can read about the big-name victims and the rumored sums of money some have paid, most companies will never understand what it's like to be a victim of a major ransomware attack until they experience it themselves.

Please join us for a webinar examining this growing threat. Our panel of professionals will provide case studies of ransomware attacks and will discuss legal, business, and PR consequences that companies should be prepared for in the event of an attack. In addition, the panelists will discuss what companies should expect from the U.S. Department of Justice in the heat of a ransomware attack.

JAMES MERKLINGER, President of ACC Credentialing Institute, who with MARK DIAMOND, CEO, Contoural, will explain how legal department can benefit from using the Association of Corporate Counsel's free Data Steward Program.

Sensitive client data stored at law firms is increasingly a target of cyber attacks. This year Chief Legal Officers have again rated information security as one of their highest concerns. Yet a recent Association of Corporate Counsel survey revealed that despite the risks, more than 70% of companies do not assess their law firms' security, because they don't know the right questions to ask and because they simply don't have the internal resources to evaluate each of their firms. The 30% of companies that do assess their law firms' security find the process extremely cumbersome, and the law firms themselves are equally frustrated. There is a better way.

Join us for this important discussion exploring how the Data Steward Program can help all Legal Departments with assessing, bench-marking, validating and accrediting law firms on their information security capabilities.  Please invite your Compliance and IT teams, as well!

To RSVP, please click the registration button below.  Zoom credentials will be sent to all registrants 24 hours in advance.

All ACC women members are cordially invited to join their Greater Philadelphia colleagues and friends for a VIRTUAL tour of the African American Museum, followed by a networking reception. One of the highlights of this tour will be:

  • Anna Russell Jones: The Art of Design highlights the diverse treasures of AAMP’s permanent collection.

    Anna Russell Jones (1902-1995), was the first African American graduate of the Philadelphia School of Design for Women, now Moore College of Art and Design, and an alumna of the anatomy department of Howard Medical School, now Howard University College of Medicine. She was known to contemporaries as a talented artist, working in wallpaper and carpet design, as a civil service illustrator, and freelance artist.   The exhibition surveys original art and design by Jones, displaying the intricacies of the artist’s practice and highlighting significant archival materials from this rare collection; illustrating her interest in and the importance of African American history and civil rights, commitment to public service, and fascination with medical practice.
