ACC Houston February Chapter Meeting CLE: Demystifying AI
February 11, 2025 | 11:30 am - 1:00 pm | Maggiano's Little Italy

Artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing the way businesses operate, how lawyers provide legal services, and how courts function, offering unprecedented opportunities to streamline processes, enhance decision-making, and unlock new avenues for business growth and efficiency. Using AI, however, comes with its own set of challenges, particularly in navigating the ethical and legal landscape.

Join Chief Judge Jennifer Walker Elrod for the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and Jonathon K. Hance, Partner at Bracewell LLP, as they demystify AI and discuss best practices for harnessing its benefits in an ethical and responsible manner.

ACC Houston November Chapter Meeting CLE
Ethical Scenarios: What Would You Do?
November 11, 2025 | 11:30 am - 1:00 pm | Maggiano's Little Italy

This presentation explores complex workplace dilemmas involving ethics, legal compliance and HR decision-making. Through detailed scenarios, it examines issues such as medical privacy under ADA and FMLA, OSHA investigations following a fatal accident, harassment by a client executive and safety concerns tied to regulatory procedures. Each case presents conflicting pressures between HR, management and employees, raising questions about confidentiality, union involvement, legal privilege and leadership accountability. Rather than offering clear-cut answers, reflection is encouraged on how to respond when values, policies, and people collide. Participants are challenged to consider how organizations can balance employee rights with operational demands while maintaining ethical integrity in high-pressure environments.
1.00 hours CLE (TX) and includes 1.00 hours ethics credits.

This event is for ACC Houston board members and any of our past chapter Presidents.

Join us as we kick off the 41st year of our chapter with the Annual Past President Lunch

Join us as we explain the legal developments the impacted employers in 2024 and highlight what employers can expect in 2025. We will cover new federal, state and local legislation, and court cases and other relevant decisions, as well as important trends and tangible takeaways and strategies for in-house counsel.

The ACC MN Community Service Committee invites you to participate in a Virtual Housing Eviction Expungement Clinic being hosted by the Volunteer Lawyers Network (VLN) on Monday afternoon, January 27, 2025, via Zoom. This is an opportunity to provide full, but virtual, representation to individuals and families who need eviction expungement relief to transition to stable, secure housing. Clients are screened and matched based on each volunteer’s experience and comfort level.

AGENDA
2:00 PM - 2:15 PM | Introduction, logistics and Q&A with VLN staff resource attorneys (via Zoom)
2:15 PM - 3:15 PM | Client meetings (by phone)
3:15 PM - 4:00 PM | Large group discussion among volunteers and VLN staff resource attorneys (via Zoom)

To register for the Clinic, complete the registration form on the VLN website and note "ACC MN 1-27-25" in answer to the question, "Are you already volunteering OR have you already arranged to volunteer with a particular VLN program? If yes, explain." Volunteers will receive Zoom login information directly from VLN a couple of days before the Clinic.

During the clinic, you'll interview pre-screened clients and review their files, then complete motions for eviction expungements and fee waivers. This pro bono work is eligible for CLE credit in Minnesota (six hours of pro bono work = one credit).

Beforehand, volunteers are asked to view a 45-minute on-demand video training and slideshow on expungement basics (eligible for 0.75 Standard CLE credit in Minnesota; after watching the video, register for the CLE credit here).

Admission is free. We hope you choose to participate!

NOTE: AS OF 1/14/25, ONLY 3 VOLUNTEER SLOTS REMAIN.
