Join ACC St. Louis for an Estate Planning for Veterans Clinic on Tuesday, June 17th from 3:00 - 7:00 PM.    

We need attorneys and notary publics who will be working directly with eligible veterans and their spouses to prepare:
- Simple Wills
- Powers of Attorney
- Living Wills
- Health Care Directives

Volunteers will be: - Trained (see below)
- May work in pairs if desired |
- Provided snacks/drinks during the event 

We will be using an estate planning package developed by the Missouri Veterans Commission.  In advance of the Clinic, training be a 1-hour webinar, conducted by Scotty Allen, General Counsel, Missouri Veterans Commission.

This session will explore the ways in which lawyers are beginning to use generative artificial intelligence (AI) and the ethical challenges they face, including compliance with the Virginia Rules of Professional Responsibility.

Topics will include:

  • Dangers inherent in generative AI, including limited data sets and “hallucinations.”
  • The lawyer’s duty of competence concerning generative AI platforms.
  • The risks of revealing confidential client information through generative AI.
  • Consulting with clients about the lawyer’s use of generative AI.
  • Avoiding potential breaches of duties to courts and third parties due to inaccurate information supplied by generative AI.
  • Law firm management’s duties of supervision regarding generative AI.

Jaime Shean is an attorney in Orange County, California with more than 20 years of experience both in-house and in private practice. She currently serves as Director, Senior Legal Counsel in Global Technology and Commercial Legal Services at Western Digital. Prior to joining Western Digital, Jaime handled commercial transactions at PDS Health; served as General Counsel of Veros Real Estate Solutions, a technology company that delivers products and services in the real estate mortgage industry; and worked as Assistant General Counsel at the intellectual property law firm Knobbe Martens.

Jaime received her law degree from the University of Southern California’s Gould School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in journalism and political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Jaime is the mother of three teenage children, one of whom identifies as non-binary, which has inspired Jaime to become a spokesperson for LGBTQ+ rights and diversity, equity, and inclusion. Over the past two years, Jaime has presented a transgender and implicit bias training to more than 600 lawyers, judges, and businesspeople.

Do you want to learn about intellectual property, or share your knowledge of intellectual property with others? Are you interested in volunteering your time? If yes, this program is right for you. All experience levels are welcome, whether you don’t know the difference between a trademark or copyright, or you’ve spent the past 20 years advising clients on complex IP matters.

The IP experts at Cowan, Liebowitz & Latman, P.C. (CLL) are teaming up with the ACC-NYC chapter and Volunteers of Legal Services (VOLS) to provide a unique program that includes a one-hour training on trademarks, copyrights and patents, followed by a one-hour clinic in which ACC members are paired with experienced IP attorneys to provide legal advice to microentrepreneurs and start-up businesses.

Spots are very limited. This volunteer opportunity is for ACC members only and you must be prompt and available for the entire event.
 

Architectural Walking Tour

Join us for a guided walking tour through historic downtown Los Angeles, led by the LA Conservancy. Over the course of approximately two hours, we will explore some of L.A.’s beloved architectural landmarks, including the Central Library, the U.S. Bank Tower, and the Bradbury Building. After the 1.5-mile walk, you’re welcome to stick around for an optional lunch together at Grand Central Market — a perfect way to wrap up the morning with good food and great company!
