Roundtable: In-house Counsel as an Effective Business Partner

We invite you to join your ACCBC peers to talk about how a successful in-house lawyer works collaboratively as a business partner by understanding and relating to internal clients and colleagues.

At this roundtable discussion in-house counsel will explore effective strategies for aligning with business needs. Roundtable participants will engage in a dynamic exchange of ideas on best practices and tips on:

  • using a business person mindset when discussing legal issues and communicating with business colleagues;
  • effectively communicating our analysis, recommendations and document comments;
  • translating complex legal concepts into business-friendly language and actionable insights;
  • creating concise and insightful presentations for senior leaders;
  • fostering a deeper collaboration and trusting relationship with business teams; and
  • ensuring that legal advice not only protects the organization but also propels business strategies forward.

 Join us to share your ideas and challenges.  Attendees will leave with a strengthened ability to act as both legal advisors and strategic business partners and to communicate more effectively with their business colleagues.

About This Volunteer Opportunity:

In partnership with the D&I Legal Taskforce at Chanel and Chanel Community, we are welcoming graduating seniors to the Chanel Corporate office to help them prepare for  their summer jobs and internships. The Legal Outreach educational program serves low-income, mostly minority, and/or first generation urban youth from underserved neighborhoods in New York City.

12-13 volunteers will work with students 1-to-1 on topics such as:

  • Creating a Targeted Resume: Students will learn the dos and don’ts of developing a resume that will be attractive to potential employers. Students will be able to create their own standout resumes after reviewing sample resumes and receiving tips for highlighting their skills from facilitators.
  • Writing a Compelling Cover Letter: Students will learn how to craft cover letters that will gain the attention of potential employers. They will review examples of various cover letters to understand the structure and how to clearly and concisely demonstrate in writing that their skills are a match for a company’s needs.
  • Preparing for the Interview and Follow Through: Students will learn the steps to preparing for an interview and how to place themselves in the best position to receive a job offer through post-interview follow-up.

Pizza and soft drinks will be served.

Please join us for an ACC NCR Asian-American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Affinity Group networking dinner. We are recognizing and celebrating Asian Pacific American Heritage Month (APAHM) at Ingle Korean Steakhouse in Vienna, VA.  We invite you to participate whether you self-identify as South Asian, East Asian, Southeast Asian, Pacific Islander, or any other member of the Asian community, have intersecting identities, or just want to join us for some good food and catching up. We look forward to connecting with you! Attendance will be capped to ensure good conversation. Please check your schedule before registering as the hosts will be expecting you! We hope you can join us!

Members will be covering the cost of their own dinner.
