Effectively Managing Public Relations for High-Profile Litigation. Includes a checklist designed to help in-house counsel consider steps to improve management of media-involved legal matters, talking points, as well as a discussion on public relations management.

Corporate generalists will benefit from this update on the law regarding advertising in established and emerging marketing channels. Learn the status of regulation at the state and federal levels on such issues as telemarketing, direct mail, fax, internet/e-mail, and television. Attendees will also hear from a representative from the FTC's Bureau of Consumer Protection on its enforcement priorities for the year ahead.

CLOs are increasingly asked to carry a new portfolio of responsibilities for their companies, including shared or sole responsibility for government relations, acting as media spokesperson, serving as guardian of the corporate ethical culture, managing shareholder relations, and counseling board advisors. Lawyers who were trained in legal theory and to serve back office ""no comment"" positions are now ""setting the tone and delivering the message,"" both externally and internally for their corporate client.

This session will discuss monitoring and protecting intellectual property assets around the globe. Learn the risks and challenges other companies are facing, and how they are combating IP infringement. The topics addressed will include: identifying and protecting against risks to your brand; strategies for monitoring your brand name; tackling domain squatters and combating other brand abuse; developing strategies for protecting your brand on a global scale; and how counterfeit goods and piracy impact brands and the best practices for targeting suppliers of counterfeit goods.

This program will inform in-house counsel about issues relating to “cloud computing,” including new media technology. The panel will provide insight into managing technology and business risks, including international data privacy issues. A checklist for review of Cloud solutions leading to a strategy for negotiations will be provided.
